White Powder Residue

August 16 2005 at 2:01 PM

Rick Gelinas

Since the question had been raised about the possibility of Releasit leaving white residue in dark carpet I went ahead and tested it this morning. I went out and purchased a strip of dark green commercial loop carpet and proceeded to load it with Encap-Clean DS (both the "old" and the "new" formulations). As you'll see from the pictures in the link below there's no powder visible whatsoever. So if a white powder is occurring in a carpet it's gotta be coming from some other source, it's not coming from the Releasit.

Rick I think it is great that you test your products under real life settings. Even though I am sure you knew the results before hand. I have 3 Nieces in Tampa, a Brother in Orlando and Brother & Sister-in-law by Merritt Island. I will stop in next time down.

upholstery test

August 17 2005, 3:51 PM

At a Summerfest several years back- I don't remember which one, I was giving a demo on cleaning various types and weaves of throw pillows, some silk, some cotton velvet, some polished cotton, etc, and a silk rug I own.

As part of the demo, I used Releasit Encapsulating Detergent as a cleaning product, properly diluted, then got to wondering what if anything would happen if a spill of the undiluted product would do.

So... I poured it on, and just left it alone, when I was finished with the demos.

Saturated, not just barely damp.

Checked them the next day when dry.

THERE WAS NO POWDER, NO STIFFNESS, NOTHING TO SHOW ANYTHING HAD BEEN APPLIED TO ANY OF THEM!!

That's when I began to do cleaning of furniture for my customers with Releasit Encapsulating Detergent.

So... powder residue- ain't there.

If it is not happening on thin upholstery material, and relatively thick material like my silk rug, then it ain't going to happen elsewhere, either.

I just wanted to add that I have used my cimex to clean a dark gray almost black in color commercial carpet about 8500 sq. ft. a few times now,as well as a commercial green low pile carpet with out any problems of "white powder residue".

Best to all
