What color pads would you recommend for buffer?

August 17 2005 at 9:25 PM
Ray

I have a 15 inch rotory buffer. What color pads would you recomend I use for commercial and what color for residential? I have never encaped before.

I do own a performer 405 to follow up clean or rinse if needed.

I would like to have an option to encap as a stand alone or scrub prior to extreaction.

Thanks

Ray

Ray, welcome to the board and please don’t take this the wrong way, being his brother and everything, I thought that was pretty funny. Take a look at this, it might help some. http://www.excellent-supply.com/about.htm .Oh and by the way, he will gladly help you out with any questions you have. Heck, he’s even been known to help me out once in a while. Don’t tell him I said this but he’s a good guy. Another thing you will find very helpfull is if, when you get a chance, just read page after page on this board. There is a lot of great info if you take the time to look back over the pages.

Hi Ray,

Welcome!

Here's a link to pads that we've found work perfect on all types of commercial and all but the most extremely delicate residential carpet...

If I can assist in any way just holler.

Thanks for the replys!

Can you use a 17 inch pad on a 15 inch block? Or will it just flop around?

You can use 15" or 17" - whichever you prefer. 15" is the correct size for a 15" driver however 17" will also work fine if you want to go with a little larger pad.

Residential cleaning

I can testify using the Releasit Encapsulating Detergent and Fiber Plus Pads on residential works just fine.

I first tried it on my own carpet to see how it worked. then in a vacant house rental that was not too bad, then on lots of homes.

While I would say it is not for every residential, try it first, then if the results are not what you want, then go with bonnets or HWE.

You won't know until you try it yourself.

Shower feeding it from your shampoo tank works better than spraying it on, in my opinion.

Using one of the Standup Filtration and Grout Brushes, I did the edges, corners and tight areas first, then the center of the room.

WE use either white pads. not very agressive and get lots of foam.
or beige pads more agressive and less foam.

White for lightly soiled areas beige for medium to heavy soiled areas.

I have also used ice blue pads, and used red ones

I only use White and Beige in res setting
