Alcohol can be added to just about any detergent without any detrimental effects. In this case, Dave was able to tell the prospect that he was using a natural solvent. So in this situation the alcohol was primarily just used for marketing purposes. However alcohol is a decent low cost solvent. It can be used to spike detergents and you'll see a slight measure of increased solvency. It also speeds up the drying a little bit. And it costs very little to use. It's a handy item to have on hand. However you should be mindful that alcohol is flammable so you're adding a possibly hazardous chemical to your inventory.

If I were cleaning a trashed carpet would it be benificial to add some alcohol to the cimex tank with the releasit...if so how much? and do I just use rubbing alcohol from the drug store...

Yep just buy the cheap rubbing alcohol at the drug store. Dump a bottle into a tank of detergent and you'll have a little added solvency and slightly speedier drying. It's not gonna set any records, but it's a little bit of a boost. Don't over do it though because alcohol will also kill the foaming action and you need to see a little foam in order to gauge how much detergent you're applying to the carpet. You can also use it undiluted as a mild solvent spotter. Play around with it, I think you may find a few uses for it.
