| Hey Guys,
I was out cleaning today and the motor on my cimex starting smelling like wire was burning. I checked the plug and cord and everything seemed fine. It felt like the motor was hot also. I've had it almost 2 years and it has got quite a bit of use on commercial carpet. Any ideas?
Thanks

Jeff I don't know what might be causing this. It sounds like a motor related problem. So far after selling hundreds of machines we've only heard of one problem with a motor, so it's not common. But anything is possible. Can you give me a call Monday? I'll help you get it taken care of.

RG,
Please post your findings as we have a brand new out of the box machine doing the same thing. Two machines in the same building, one hot, one not.

Dave if you've got a new machine with a problem, Cimex will take care of it for you. Their warranty coverage is excellent.

Thank you. I would still appreciate hearing your findings on the other machine. Perhaps it will save me the trouble of going through the warranty process. Unless it is an exchange we will be making the needed repairs.

Davo,
I took the cimex to my mechanic and he thoroughly checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong with it. I used it Mon for about 4 1/2 hours and it worked fine. I'm not sure what happened. I'm wondering if I plugged into a bad or overloaded outlet. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't have to buy a new motor.
My mechanic was very firm that an extension cord of any size should not be used with the cimex. Although I have used one in the past the night it smelled like burning wire I wasn't using an extension.

Thank you for your kind response.
Much of my problem may be improper operation. This is the first job I have used a new Cimex for any period of time. I have a couple of older machines that I generally use.
