Help with Sports Complex

Mark Hart

We clean the carpets @ the spring training site of one of the MLB teams. Last year we used the Realeait system for the first time. This year a rep from the team personally thanked us for the fine job we have been doing. The locker rooms get cleaned about every three months. Yesterday, after we finished the head groundskeeper who is in charge asked me to figure out a way to clean the clay dirt from the "astroturf" in the batting cages. He had a couple of his workers flooding the carpet and then use large roller to roll or push the soil off to the side. He wants to find a way to vacuum the stuff off. I thought of a large space vacuum such as is used in large facilities, or a portable flood pumper such as is used in water damage restoration. Any suggestions? The two batting cages total 17,700 s/f. Take your time thinking about it. I leave tomorrow for CA to Catalina Jazz. Be back 9-23. I'll be thinking of you guys. NOT!!! LOL

I just purchased a spinner for hard floor surfaces
I would think this would work for astro turf. I load
up my cimex with tile and grout cleaner and then run my
spinner at 900 p.s.i. through my truckmount. What great
results. I would think with astro turf you can just run the spinner. It flushes the extracts. The cost for a spinner is not to steep.

Thanks Ralph,
However, I don't have a truckmount. Will the spinner work with a portable? By the way What is a spinner?

That’s a good idea Ralph.

Mark,
No the Spinner won't work with a porty. The Spinner/Gecko/Turbo tools are used for high pressure rinsing tile and grout floors. These tools hook to a truckmount and clean with pressurized spray and recover the solution. If you want to give my brother Dave a call he's got a portable 1,000 psi HT machine with the HT "spin" tool. I'm sure he could help you out. The HT performs the same way that the Spinner/Gecko/Turbo tools perform.

Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly. The head groundskeeper wants to be able to reguarly remove the clay dirt from the carpet by vacuuming, if possible between wet cleanings. Thats' why I mention possibly a space vacuum of some type or a really large pile lifter maybe? They use to use a double width Hoover until it blew up.

Thanks

A Pile-Master with the Collection/Hoppers might do the trick.

If you want to call me I can explain how it works. The collection hoppers were designed for recovering dry cleaning detergent like Host. Recovering dry cleaning particles is a bear. The Collection/Hoppers attached to the Pile-Master works better than I could have imagined. It might do the trick for your customer.
