| I need your advice, I was called today to clean a carpet this weekend. I have not touched in just about 3 years. When I walked in I said to myself, Holy S__t, this looks like hell. Trust me it does. When I did it years ago it was done about evry 6 months or so with my Prochem Bearcat and the RX. Has any one touched it in the past 3 years? I don't know.
It is a commerical carpet in an office 3000sq.ft. right outside the office is the manufacturing plant. The carpet is a almost solid medium gray color with a slight blue, red, and green highlight to it. The carpets is now covered in a film of brownish almost blackish grease. You know how sometimes to go to an office and see a really noticable traffic lane that sticks right out at you, this is the whole carpet and the traffic patterns are worse.
Can the Cimex and DS clean this to make it look presentable for a Tuesday meeting? I am limited on time to do this on Saturday morning.
Any knowledge, advice, before and after of your worsejobs would be helpful.
Thanks
Ron

Ron,
Check out my post below about "sounding the Charge signal". The carpet I cleaned in that post was not as large as what you are talking about, but it was the nastiest commercial carpet I have seen. The manager of the jewelry store now thinks it looks close to brand new. I am constantly surprised at what Rick's program can do. You, my friend, will be considered a miracle worker by these folks. I also have one I do twice a year. It is fairly large. The first time I ever did it, I hwe as had everyone else. So-so results. There was a huge spill behind the counter that had never been removed. They kept it covered with a floor mat it was so noticeable. Since I encapped it back in December, they have since thrown the mat away because the spot is gone and has not returned. In fact, I am gonna have to raise my rate, I used to clean it every six months. It has now been nine since I last cleaned it!
Again, to borrow a phrase from Rick...."you'll be a hero!" lol |

Kevin in the "charge" post below did you do anything different than the normal process that Rick outlines? Did you prespray?

No, Rick, I didn't prespray. Just vacuum, hit the bad spots with Releasit 50/50 and cleaned. Worked like a charm. Ya know, Gelinas has always said you don't necessarily need to extract with this system. The nastier carpets I do with Cimex/Releasit system only, the more sold on that I am. Of course, I haven't been brave enough to use it on residential carpet like some of the pros here have. I guess I'm worried I won't be able to rake out on the swirls! lol Correction--I will use it on berber 90% of the time. |

| some advice, Please | September 16 2005, 10:33 AM |
I was wondering how nasty, dirty, greasy, messed up of a carpet will this system work on. Should I scrub slower, make the shampoo stronger, etc.
I am limited on time and i really do not want to use my TM.
Thanks

Just mix as usual and go! A couple extra drying passes don't hurt, though. |

Couldn't get picture to show in window.
Picture doesn't do this nasty mess justice. Extracted what looked to be crude oil before, then encapped with much better results after many months of not even being vacuumed. Personally I would
prespray the carpet and use a cylindrical brush machine to aggitate extract it
then encap.
Everytime I have done this the carpet has come out great. It also sets the carpeting
up for a good encaps program.
I do this on all first time jobs or ones not done in a long time

| I tried it and what a mess. | September 18 2005, 5:45 PM |
I tried it with only the Cimex, you could see that it cleaned it but, it is so bad I am going in next sat. with my TM Prochem and use Olifen cleaner. To much grease

| Ron, I owe you an apology... | September 19 2005, 7:30 PM |
When I read your original post, I kinda skimmed the second part, thus missing the "greasy" part. I apologize. I learned first hand about greasy carpets. I clean a seafood restaurant on a regular basis that is really greasy. Every 3rd time, I extract the whole mess. The other times, I extract the traffic lanes and encapsulate other areas. It works well. Again, my fault for not correctly reading your whole post. |
