| I bought some tea tree oil from walmart and tried it on a bathroom cotton mat, the result was not good. I am sure this stuff works. I am wondering if my process is lacking something to make the tea tree more effective. Here's what i did. I mixed 50 drops of TT with 24 oz of my spotter( 4oz trashed with 24oz water). I sprayed the solution heavy on the cat urine spot, soaked it through. I did not rinse or suction the urine spot. Check the urine spot the following day, and the urine odor was still prevalent. Maybe I should of rinse the urine spot. Where did I go wrong? Thanks for reading this long post.

Cat urine is right up there with skunk spray. Super strong stuff!
Dog urine and human urine are MUCH easier by comparison.
Here's a story for ya. Our Bengal cat had developed a urinary infection. And before we knew it he let loose a couple of times. One of the times was inside my wife's cello case. If you've ever seen the inside of an instrument case, it's made out of felt and cardboard. Not a very cleanable surface. We wiped up the urine and applied Tea Tree and alcohol. We let it air out for a couple of days, and there was still a pretty strong smell. So we treated the case a second time. It's been a couple of months now and there's still a slight smell inside the case. Good thing Nancy only uses the case once a week to take her cello to her music lesson. Moral of the story, tea tree can tackle dog and human urine scent but cat urine can be a real bear to get rid of completely. So you may have trouble with it. Wish I had a more optimistic response for ya.

If the cat is a male, and unneutered, forget it. If it is a bath mat the first thing I would do is run it thru the washing machine. The best product for cat odors that I have found is Odo-Ban sold at Sam's for $9.96 a gallon and can make up to 35 gallons of RTU. The product is made near Macon, Ga (home of the first VLM Mini-Fest) Sam's is the only place I know where you can get it. |

Mix 2 cups vinegar, 1 cup rubbing alcohol, and 1/2 gallon of distilled water. Thoroughly Rinse the affected area first, liberally apply the white vinegar and alcohol via trigger sprayer, let dry, sniff and re-apply as needed. Hope it helps.
