Greasy Sofa Help!!!

September 21 2005 at 12:06 AM

Today I rans into a VERY greasy sofa+Love seat!!. First, I presprayed with Releasit Punch, Used the Drill and brush combo to try to break up the dirt and grease, And lastly, Bonneted using the Drill and Tuway "Thin one" Bonnet. When I was done, It improved just a little...not much to brag about. I felt kinda bad that I couldnt get it as clean as I liked...so, I charged the custy only $50.

Question is...Am I missing some steps here? Anybody have any tips or tricks to deal with something like this? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

A "VERY greasy sofa" really needs to be extracted via HWE.

I agree 100%. I run into those occasionaly and that is why I carry a Ninja on the van. Also I pre spray with Bane Clene's product called "Preface" over the years I have never found a better product for pre spraying furniture.

I always remember it like this.

waters and oils don't mix.

And when you use a normal prespray, with a little solvent in it even.. usually doesnt cut it much.

Get a solvent... I use BPs Solvent Clean.
Or you can use a good solvent based protector as well.

mist it on and towell it off.. or extract it out.
Get the oils from all the arms, hands and necks that have rested on the piece or upholstery.

Then when this is removed, you can prespray, agitate and HWE>. or even mist your releasit on and towell it off or do your steps like you mentioned.

You always have to get those body oils. Merely prespraying will do OK like you found out,, but removing the oils first then getting down intot he dirt will be twofold IMO>

Best of luck.
