| I am going to be doing allot of berber here in the future that I always done with HWE. I use my Cimex with every job these days no matter where it is. The carpets are white and some are tan with speckles in it and very tight weave.
Question: What is more safe, brushes or pads?
Thanx :~}

I think the pads would be fine, I did a doctors office not to long ago.
it was a berber carpet, I didn't have the cimex at the time, so I used
a low speed with a scrubing brush on it, the brush was stiff. used a pump spray for the releasit, it came out nice.
if didn't hurt the carpet at all, so Berber carpet can actually handle a lot.
I would go with the pads.
somebody told me the other day, for the spot or real bad area, lift up on the cimex
handle. it will put more weight on it, and get the stains out better. |

i dunno about safer, but soft pads are definitely gentler on any fiber. however, nothing at all wrong with using pads AND you will get far better results with pads. believe me, i've tried them both. i wouldn't consider a berber style carpet too fragile at all, to the contrary, it's more like a commercial grade carpet.
thanx --- Derek. |

Mark and RJ, Remember "berber" is a "style" not a type of carpet. If it is wool or 100% nylon fiber, better use a brush with white bristles, if it is a nylon/olefin blend or 100% olefin, use the pads. |

You'll do just fine on a Berber using the FiberPlus pads.
I took a class on Berber a few years back taught by the ol' guru himself, Bob Wittkamp. Can you believe we spent an entire day on Berber? We learned everything there is to know about Berber. We learned about the Berber tribe in Africa were they would weave old fabrics together to make rugs. We learned about modern Berber construction too. And we learned how to clean Berber. Well I can sum up everything we learned about cleaning Berber in 3 words, "dry, dry, dry". Ya gotta get it dry in order to overcome the wicking tendency (especially if it's an olefin sucker).
So the answer is yes. Encap cleaning with Releasit will rock your world on a Berber. Releasit is designed to help stop wicking. Use the FiberPlus pads. And try to keep your moisture to a minimum and speed up the drying process. You could use fans or post-bonnet to help speed dry the carpet. You'll see some nice results.

Gotta agree with the above posters.
It is my experience that the Fiber Plus Pads apply the foam drier than the brush, plus they allow more sq ft per gallon of Ready-to-Use, so go for it.
By the way, I found this combo works fine on wool berber too.
