I spat the dummy to-day

Shorty

I've recently landed two large apartment blocks for carpet cleaning.

Got a call from the manager today that one had to be done this morning.

It was originaly booked in for next Tuesday.

Tenant was moving out at 11:00 (roughly), and owner was moving in at 13:00.

Cleaners were still there when I got there.

This was a weird unit, a townhouse in an apartment block.

Narrow timber stairs to get up to the carpeted bedrooms and passage.

Unable to use the Mex;, so had to use my porty;

Anyhow, I just got finished and was standing outside the lift on the 8th floor when this guy and his wife got out.

His first words got me going.

"What the f**k are you doing parked in MY car space"?

Me:"Sorry mate, but I had to clean the carpets in your unit".

Him:"You should have been finished and gone, they better be dry"

Me: "Sorry, I've only just finished, the tenant didn't move out until a couple of hours ago, and the cleaners have only just left"

Him: "That's not f**king good enough"

His wife was Japanese and very embarrased, looking down at the carpet all this time, and holding her little kid.

Me: "I can see you're upset, but you're abusing the wrong bloke, I'm just here to do a job"

Him: "I'll make sure you don't get another f**king job in this building"

Me: "Fine", as I dig in my pocket and try to give him twenty cents.

Him: "What's this for"?

Me: "Ring Lifeline, tell someone who gives a stuff, 'cos I don't"

Him: "I'm going to tell my colleagues about you, Get Shorty, eh"?

Me: "That's okay, I'll be sure to tell my colleagues at our meeting on Monday night"

Him: "And who might they be"?

Me: "I'm the President of the FNQPCCA"

Him: "What's that"?

Me "The Far North Queensland Professional Carpet Cleaners Association,
I'll let them know to avoid this unit at all costs".

Him: "A*seh*le"

Me: "Have a great week-end"

Sometimes I do tell little fibs, FNQPCCA, what a name

Not really worried about this bloke as the manager for the block has been a personal friend for over ten years.

But sometimes you just gotta say some things, eh??

Cheers,

Shorty.

Too bad you couldn't have given him back his dirt. Someone actually has that on their truck, "Satisfaction guaranteed or your dirt back."
I think that was also on a garbage truck "Satisfaction etc."
Reminds me of a garbage truck ad - "Work on our trucks. $300.00 a week, and all you can eat."

Way to go shorty, I love being treated like the dirt we just removed. Most people are only friendly when they want something. I have a couple of comm accts that won't even return my calls, but when its time to get there carpets cleaned they sure know how to find me. As for the new tennant at 6'2 255lbs I don't usually get much lip. have a great weekend

you might be surprised by him if you go back maybe at another time when things settle down and apololize for cleaning at the time of him moving in...even if was not your fault...maybe he was having a really bad day.....

He might turn out to be a good customer and referal base....just a thought.

My Hot Water Extraction machine sucks.

I don't.

I don't care what sort of a day he was having.

First impressions count to me.

He knew the tenant was moving out, the job was booked for this coming Tuesday, he just wanted to get in earlier.

For any man to speak that way in front of a lady, especially his wife, showed no respect at all.

I do not wish to be associated with people of that ilk.

Cheers,

Shorty.

I know what you mean...I service a building daily with a bunch of nutty wackoos and chronic complainers that no matter how much extra I do It's never appreciated....I often wonder if I had a cheats attitude maybe I would be appreciated..but I often have to remind myself of the bottom line.

like I said.just a thought.
