Steamin Demon

Is anyone using a Cimex-Steamin Demon combination to clean residential carpets? (Or some other machine to agitate).
If so, did you use a truckmount HWE machine before you got your Steamin Demon?
What chems are you using?
Do you find you don't need to agitate for most carpets?
What are your drying times?
Thanks much.

We use a cylindrical brush machine. Ours is similar to the Pile Master.

I actually was using my Demon before we got a TM. My TM sits parked in my spare drive 99% of the time.

I agitate most carpets and people. I have always agitated the carpeting before we used the Demon and with a TM to me is just makes sense and cleaning easier.

WE use Demon Clean Attack from Cross American, Hard Ball Chemicals Power Pak.
I will be testing Encap Punch soon.

Drying times differ from carpet to carpet but and where from a ½ hour to three.

Putting fans down will make drying quick.

We have the Classic. the 2 Demon II, Old style Demon and a XL 15

Agitation is the most important element in cc'ing.. period.
Dont let anyone tell you differently.

It doesnt matter if its with a TM, S. Demon, etc.
Thats how OP and pad cleaners get the results they do to visually compare with a TM and HWE> their machines agitate as they attract soils into the pads.

it makes carpets dry quicker.. puts more soil load in to suspension for removal.. and also makes cleaning quicker if you believe in TACT and the need for dwell time.
With agitation, you can do it and immediately begin to extract for the most part.

Carpet drying is all relative.
1. How good of an extraction did you do.
2. Are you going to protect,, and if so.. solvent or water based?
3. Do you use airmovers of fans.. or possibly post pad.
4. Temperature and weather??
5. AC or windows shut or open?

So you can see how much difference it makes on different jobs.
An avg time here. and we flood extract, is about 2 hrs.
solvent protectors though, multiple dry passes (we use a TM>. only way to clean residentials) we post pad to name a few things.

Best of luck .

Demon Cleaning- Dave H.

October 14 2005, 5:27 AM

I use the SD2 quite often. I lay my pre-spray down using my GLS w/auto sprayer. Then extract, it does a great job. Been using Trashed & Trashed 2, Tsunami and Attack.

But I cleaned an empty house the other day. The master bedroom was pretty trashed. You could clearly see where the bed was on this creme colored medium cut. There were yellow stained areas all around where the bed was and especially at the doorway. I pre-scrubbed Tsunami in then extracted, not much results. Then re-hit those yellow areas with a sample of z-bomb. Scrubbed in then extracted. Looked better but still very yellow. Came back at the end of the job and re-did room with Tsunami/GLS. Major improvement from when I started but the new owners will probably want to replace it. Any advice on what to use here?

David, you wrote earlier about using propane heat with the SD. Could you explain your setup? Thanks. Hope I didn't hijack this thread too much.

since I do not use those chemicals I could not comment on why things did not come out the first time. Some times stains are going to stay. I would have used Demon Clean, or somthign else

You wook up the propane the same as you would a TM when you do not have on board water

Sprint SD Combo Punch!

October 15 2005, 10:39 AM

I have used the Steamin' Demon to extract after applying Encap Punch with my Sprint machine with amazing results. I have used this on some really trashed carpet in the a hotels management offices that the owners were cleaning as a last ditch effort to save it before replacement. It did such an amazing job we got the contract to clean the other 164 suites at this upscale resort.

I hear a lot about how good DS works but very little about Punch. Everytime I use it on something horrific (1" solid Dirt Caked carpet) I'm amazed at the results. And no Rick doesn't have me on the payroll.

I've resently retired the TM and am now using a Olympus 1200 instead with result just as good as I was getting with the TM. I attribute this to the agitation of the sprint and the power of the Punch! Of course the fact the Olympus 1200 has almost the most power a portable can have doesn't hurt either.

Hay Tom

You bring up a good point that I’ve been wondering about lately. With your Olympus porty, what pressure are you running most of the time for carpet cleaning?

Thanks in advance.

Porty Pressure

October 16 2005, 10:51 AM

I've been using about 400PSI for cleaning carpets using an low speed RX-20. It give a very thorough rinse with the 4gpm pump this thing has. The worst stuff I've used it on is drain slime that a plumber got on the carpet when thier snake broke trough the drain from another appartment. It rinsed free very nicely.

I don't think I would use a porty if I had to fill and empty with buckets though. You've just got to love auto fill and 10gpm autodump. I also use the auto chem feed to meter in 1oz of punch per gal on the heavily soiled carpets. Now if we could just get the price on punch down in line with some of the alternatives life would be great!
