I'm going to be cleaning a couch Sat morn. The woman says there is a oily place where the cat has laid (she's nice not expecting much) regular cooton couch. If I hit it with punch and pad it will that get it or do I need to HWE it. Much prefer to stick with encap if possible.

Sounds like you have the right idea.In some cases it might need more "oomph" because of the location on the upholstery;back cushion vs. seat cushion,ect...I say go ahead with your above mentioned plan,if it doesn't look good enough then hit with HWE followed by post pad/toweling.
