Can it be mold ?November 9 2005 at 9:50 PM |

| Finally got a naturopathic clinic to hire me to encap. They told me the carpet was "natural fiber." Well my sample strand burned to a black bead, melted in formic acid, and did not float or disolve in chlorine bleach. Got to be nylon glue down !
In one office they had a cardboard box on the carpet against an outside wall. Somehow water got into the carpet below the box (they said). There is now some very black spots where the box was and the carpet is perfectly dry with no evidence of any water stains. My question - can it really be dried mold as they claim ?
Can mold really form on a wet nylon glue down under a cardboard box ? If so, what is the best way to remove the black stain ? Will Releaseit work ?
Thanks,
Bill

Yes it can be mold, it can also be black dye from the cardboard box, if there was any black pinters ink on it.
If it is mold, I would first treat it with either of your favourite mould treatments.
Failing that, I would treat the mold with 3 parts white vinegar, (not synthetic) to 1 part water.
This will kill the mold.
Then I would bleach away the remaining spores using an oxygenating bleach, such as 3% Hydrogen Peroxide.
Use a hair dryer to accelerate the H2O2.
Then clean the carpet using the Cimex and releasit.
Hope this helps.

I have dealt with this many times and I am sure it is mold. I always go back to Argosheen (been around since 1946) and use it 100% (undiluted) and it has never failed me yet. Cleaning and removal in one easy step.

I am now going to feel a little guilty using Argosheen now that I know it's not available to you down under. |
