When applying precleaner, do you use the sprint itself or do you use a seperate presprayer?

I'll know on Monday when I take delivery. I plan to apply via the Sprint. I will let you know how it works out. The Sprint sprays the solution as opposed to the Cimex and rotary machines that drop it...So it might take some getting used to.

hiyas Darren

while i don't have a Sprint, i always imagined if i'd had a CBM like it i would want the auto-sprayer feature. seems most who have it on their GLS love it & i can't recall anyone that ever said they would rather not have the auto-spray feature.

you buy one already? how you like it?

take care Bro --- Derek.

Derek

Just got the Sprint Friday. I used it on one small job this weekend, actually I ran the Cimex and Julie used the Sprint. It is very easy to use and seems to clean well. One observation I did make is that it concentrates the spray towards the center(Rick told me that before I purchased)and doesn't reach the edge of the brush's, making it difficult to get close to edges. On a Larger job I am going to try prespraying with an electric sprayer for solution application. It's easy to clean and doesn't take up much room.

I also bought the Sprint to use as a prescrubber on nasty HWE job's but haven't had the opportunity yet. When I do I'll give you an update.

Good to here from you.

Pretreat with the sprint

November 13 2005, 10:31 AM

I use the Sprint to apply the pretreatment(Encap Punch). After Vacuuming and applying pretreatment with the Sprint last Thursday the neighbor of my client came over and was amazed that the carpets looked so good before I even got to the real cleaning part.

Well Got to go. The neighbor booked me to clean $800 of tile and carpet today.

GLS w/sprayer..

November 13 2005, 11:21 AM

Derek, Sir Loin of Pork has a GLS that he took the sprayer off of. I had one on mine and removed it also. It was cumbersomme, some times tipped over (big spill) added weight to the 48 pound machine making it harder to carry up stairs, some times the tip would plug up. Mine cost $650 or about the cost of two good Multi-sprayers that I use trouble free and does a better job of laying down the solution IMHO. Whittaker also has a machine with larger brush width, with the built-in sprayer made by the same company in Austria that makes the Pilemaster. The Sprint is made by someone who broke away from the company whe makes the Sprint and GLS. I do not see the built in sprayer as doing as good as a Multi-sprayer especially if it does not spray out to both edges of the brush.

Ray, the Sprint does spray out to the edges of the brush, however the spray pattern is weighted toward the center of the brush. Therefore the spray is less concentrated at the right and left side of the brush. We've already had Truvox swap out spray nozzles in an attempt to get more even flow.

The technique for scrubbing carpet with the Sprint is to run the Sprint in an overlapping V pattern, kind of like running an upright vacuum cleaner (by the way it's about as effortless to run as an upright vacuum). The overlapping V pattern will adequately cover the carpet with detergent via the on-board sprayer. You can see the appropriate technique for scrubbing with the Sprint in the video... Releasit System

Darren is correct in noting that the Sprint can't make an overlapping pass right along the wall, so less spray will develop where the brush meets the wall. Fortunately, foot traffic is typically heavier a few inches out from the walls, so the lighter soiling against the wall can generally be scrubbed using less detergent. Once you get the feel for working with the Sprint, you'll find that it's a functional little scrubber for carpet and hard flooring.

What was the final cleaning?

November 13 2005, 12:24 PM

Tom I like your method you described but what is the "real cleaning"after the pretreat with the sprint you mentioned? Do you then use the Cimex or HWE or ---? Thks

The real cleaning

November 14 2005, 9:21 AM

I use the sprint for the application of Encap-Punch mixed 10oz per gallon then use my Olympus 1200 to hot water extract the carpet while metering in Encap-Punch at 1oz per gallon.

This works great. The results have really impressed me and my clients. Point in case. The job I did yesterday was a 25 y/o beige nylon with a dark grey traffic area in the livingroom. I thought I was in trouble when I couldn't hook up to hot water. Had to extract it with cold water. Since this was a neighbor I stopped by this morning. The carpet looks fantastic!!

I've used this process on everything from white olefin berber to greasy resturant wool and it kick @$$ everytime.

Cold Water?

November 14 2005, 5:52 PM

Where is your bucket heaters? Mine crank to 211 degrees while I pre-vac. I get out some seriously nasty stuff with Encap-Punch and my portale Olympus M200H and RotoVac.

Buckets? We don' need no stinkin' buckets!!

November 15 2005, 9:38 AM

The Olympus 1200 has autofill and autodump so no buckets. I can usually hook to hot water at the washing machine but it was buried and I wasn't going to more everything to get at it. I have an HF2000 in-line heater on order so I'll never be without hot water again. I'm slowly getting all the new equipment I need. Now I just need a high speed RX-20 with hard surface and bonnet attachments and the tool box is full!

Even with cold water the carpet was dry when I left. Of course I'm in Florida and its 80 degrees with low humidity right now. That helps, but so do the three dry passes with a glided wand. I'm really looking forward to having 230 degrees from this protable on my jobs Thursday and Friday!!
