Do you like it and are they worth the money?

I have the Dyson Animal vac which just comes with the turbin hand tool and a few other options. It has very good suction and just, as advertised, it maintains good suction even when the dust bin is quite full. Occasionally I use it on carpet jobs esecially when post vacuuming the Releasit encapsulte. It does a good job. My only reservation is its construction. I don't think it would hold up as well to the bumps and knocks in the van as say the Hoover conquest or other commercially constructed vacs we usually use.

I have a yellow one that was hauled in a van to different janitorial accounts daily for over a year. Probably ran 2-3 hours a day, nasty accounts. Then it got demoted to construction clean-up for about 6 months. When I sold the janitorial part I took it home to my house. Still works great, no broken parts, easy to clean out if it clogs. Brush is worn now, and looks like a real bear to change, but if I was still in Janitorial, its the only one I'd buy. And like was said, seems to have full suction as it fills, unlike bag models. Looks cheap but seems to hold up real well.

I have a Dyson DC04 Constantmax.

These were produced solely for carpet cleaners, or so we were told.

I was at a convention when they were released to us, we all had the same opinion, they were plastic and would not last long.

I got mine well over three and a half years ago, the first week, I broke a drive belt, my own fault, but Dyson sent a replacement + two spares---free.

I have replaced the beater brush and the hepa filter, I have also broken a small plastic lug on the canister, which in no way affects performance.

Service from Dyson is excellent and parts are cheap.

All servicable parts are easily removed and replaced with only a five cent coin. It has a washable filter and no expensive bags to replace.

I have pulled mine to pieces to thoroughly clean the insides of the "cyclone" part.

Photo's and instructions are on the Aussie forum.

It still amazes eveyone with the amount of fine soil it picks up, as well as the normal rubbish.

I.M.H.O. they are the very best you can buy for domestic or small commercial carpet. Larger jobs, while they do a brilliant job, they are just not wide enough, and therefore take to long.

Owner operators (naturally) will get longer life out of them.

I reckon they are the duck's guts, bonza mate, you'd be a mug not to get one.

Why not buy one for the missus for Christmas??

Cheers,

Shorty.

I have two a yellow and a purple one. I have had the purple one for 3+ years. I use one for my house and leave one in my van. IMOP it's the best vaccum I ever had. All my
customers ask me about it and I give it the thumbs up

i've had a DC07 (yellow) Dyson for over a year now. i like it alot. i would NEVER again buy a new one for my business. only refurbed ones from the net at about half the cost of new.

mine broke down a couple months back. belt went. owners can NOT replace these on their own. they have to be taken to a authorized Dyson repair center....it's not an easy fix on the American sold Dyson's.

i was very glad to learn the Dyson has a 2 year limited warranty. called Dyson. they had me drive it to the UPS store and they took care of it from there. they had UPS Store pack and ship it to them. exactly 2 days later it was on my front step in a box. they not only replaced the belt, they replaced the brush roll and the center "vac" piece that comes away from the machine. i think all the guts are in there.

they didn't have to replace those parts at all, but they no doubt saw how dirty they were and just did it.

i was impressed to say the least.

definitely not as sturdy as a Conquest. each have there place. hope this helps

thanx --- Derek.

Derek & Dyson Diehards

December 23 2005, 1:30 AM

Hi Derek,
what you said about the service makes sense.

I was at Dysons head office down in Sydney about a month ago, the GM, whom I have known for about 20 years, took me on a walkabout through their new warehouse.

When we got to the service desk, they had three or four techs; working on Dyson's, he made the comment that whenever a Dyson comes in for a service now, they do a complete check of the machine and replace any parts that need repacing, prior to them breaking down later on.

I was a bit sceptical at first, thinking that was just another way to extract money.

When I had a good think, I remembered how many times I have had something repaired, put it back in service only to have another fault show up within a week or so.

I think it is a good move on their part to keep their vacuums running longer, at less expense, (read down time) for the owner/operator.

Oh, to replace the belt on the DC04, I remove three plastic lugs with a coin, remove the beater bar from one end and slip the belt off. Then I am able to slide the belt off of the drive shaft. Replacement is simply a reverse of the above. Five minutes maximum.

Cheers,

Shorty.

They are ok for residentail work.

I would not use one for commercial work too bulky and slow.
a back pack is far more productive even with the turbo head attachment we can
do more sq ft and do just as good of a job.

I would rather not deal with handling dust and dirt when emptying the garbage I created
so I will always use a bagged filter system.

Some of the Dysons vac brush rolls are way to agressive, you may not see it right off but eventually you will abraid the carpet fibers

Man,
That is one ugly vaccum!I know some of you guys like them, but they seem way over priced for a bunch of plastic.
