Defining VLM

Once on this board we discussed how can you descibe VLM. There are no standards so I came up with my own. In a 12' x 12' room that you are cleaning with whatever VLM system you are using, if you cause the humidity in that room to raise over 4% you are not doing VLM. When I was "truckmounting" we would measure humidity before and after cleaning and have seen the humidity go up over 20% if it was really dirty. That is from the book of Moody, Chapter 12, verse 17

What about the wands that have the shield on the back of them that catches the steam ?

Low Moisture Defined

December 24 2005, 10:00 AM

Greetings,

As Rick knows the LMCCA Technical Committee just finished a critical Technical White Paper Defining Low Moisture. It will be published in the begining of 2006.

Here's a short sections to assist you:

"Methods and procedures that allow any fiber to dry to its natural state rapidly (< 2 hours @ 65% Rh and 70 degrees F). This can be accomplished by using less moisture to clean with, by using absorbent mediums, higher efficiency water vacuums and by increasing the evaporation rate of the carpet by lowering the relative humidity of the environment you are cleaning."

The Entire White Paper will be at the members area on the LMCCA site at the begining of January.
