| Rick, our Assembly Hall will get a new lobby carpet this week. It's a solution dyed cut pile nylon from Shaw. We have real winters here with plenty of slush and salt. We used to clean our lobby every three months with a truckmount and RX-20. But now that there are a number of Cimex machines in this area we thought that we would schedule encap cleaning every six weeks for the lobby and just use the truckmounts once a year. What do you think? Does that sound about right? The auditorium part of the building gets cleaned every six months.
Regards,
Bruce |

hiyas Bro
if Darren is lurking here he may chime in or email you (he's in charge of our A.H.'s CC'ing i believe). i might be wrong, but i THINK we clean our carpet every 6 months. the past 2 times we've had a combo of between two - four TM's and three Cimex's going. we are in western N.Y. and see lots of snow / ice / salt / ice-melt as well.
thus far the Encap'ed areas have stood up well (the few times i've seen it).
just to give you an idea of how others do it.
take care Bruce.
thanx --- Derek. |

Hi Derek, I currently live in South Carolina, but used to live in Henrietta, NY where I think you are talking about that Assembly Hall. Nice building, I was there about every weekend while it was being built, lived about 2 miles away! |

I'd be interested hearing the results of using encap on carpet where ice melter is present. Most ice melt products are alkaline salts. Typical HWE that is aimed at acidic soils do not always work well on ice melter. Let us know how this works out. No assembly halls in Utah but plenty of lobbies with tracked in ice melters.

Hiyas Dave!
i believe i know your daughters Amy & Angie.?. or maybe your sisters? i used to be good friends with Dan Larkin when i lived out in Greece, small world lotsa Bro's on the Forums. so you're cleaning carpets down there in S.C. with a Cimex?
i was fortunate enough to work on the Henrietta Assembly Hall and the nearby residences with the masonry crew. we've probably seen each other at some point.
Scott, i'm not sure which they use at our A.H., salt or ice-melt. i've never noticed a large build-up of it at any of the entrance ways, but i've only been able to help on the CC'ing crew for the past year or so (since getting a Cimex. my portable wasn't needed).
i don't have Darren's email addy, but have his phone number if you'd like to speak with him. shoot me an email.
take care --- Derek

It's interesting that you're asking about this since I just got an e-mail from Darren Rosselli and he shared some comments on this...
Thought you might like to here this story. I am responsible for organizing carpet cleanings at the Henrietta Rochester, N.Y. assembly hall. We meet at the hall 2 or 3 times per year to clean the carpets. We have been doing this for about 4 years now. I started using the Cimex/Releasit system this year. Up until this year the only method we have used is truck mounted carpet cleaning with an assortment of hand tools, rx-20's, wand's with and with out glides and low moisture rx's. The assembly hall care taker took me aside to ask what method was used to clean the main entrance carpets. I explained that it was truck mounted hot water extraction with an rx-20. He told me that he noticed a considerable difference between the two method's as far as resoiling goes and has requested we use the cimex/releasit system exclusively at the hall. Don't get me wrong I'm not completely jumping ship on hot water extraction. I still feel If done right with the right equipment and technician it's a great way to clean carpet's. However this is a powerful testimony to the effectiveness of this system.
To answer your question, Releasit does a good job with ice melt. If the carpet is loaded with a tremendous amount of soil I'd suggest flushing it first with HWE and then follow up by maintaining with encapsulation. However if the carpet is serviced regularly with Releasit you'll find that it will stay in very good shape.
Clean carpet, clean buildings, clean people.
If I can help in any way just let me know

Hey Guys,
I have been cleaning portions of the carpet at the West Palm Beach Christian Convention Center, which is the only hall that hosts District Conventions with a 6000 seat capacity. Every six months I would do the administriative offices and the apartments for the staff and guests using my Cimex & Releasit. They have two large Bane systems that were used for the main auditorium and have had different ones use their own HWE systems with mixed results. Last year they had me clean the main auditorium before the summer conventions. It was the first time the carpets stayed clean for any length of time. It appears they finally are going to switch. It only took 3 years to convince them. |

Hey Derek,
The mutual friend we talked about a few weeks ago was suprised and happy when I delivered your hello.
Rick, is there any way for me to copy and send that last post to the WPBCCC personnel? |

Mark, i have a couple good friends that moved down to West Palm area from up here in western NY. one is the Eno family, Chris and Natalie and their 3 young girls. the other is Dan DiEsti, he married a hispanic girl from down there named Claudia. know any of them?
Dave, you live near Charlotte by any chance? a have a couple brothers-in-law that moved there from up here. Brandon and Rory Hart and their families. Brandon used to be a CC'er, but is now a Fireman with Charlotte-Mecklenberg.
thanx --- Derek. |

Derek,
I live 10 minutes south of Charlotte, NC in Lake Wylie, SC. It's right on the border. It seems to me that I remember the name Rory Hart, didn't know him though. Where do you live now? |

Derek,
Remember, I don't know those of whom you speak. I live in Ft. Myers on the west coast 130+ miles from WPB. Now I gues you're wondering why someone has to drive that far to clean carpets in a comparatively big city like WPB. So do I. |

| Advantage to Cimex for KH & AS | January 5 2006, 9:18 AM |
The advantage to using the Encap system over HWE for KH & AH is not only the cleaning results but also the dry times needed.
Since we use the Hall every day the Cimex & Releasit combo is just what the situation dictates.
A crew of volunteers moving chairs, serving coffee(& donuts), and enjoying good association makes me want to clean the carpets more often.
Thanks

Dave, i live in Bloomfield but goto the Avon KH and have been there for 5 years. before that, Shawna and i went to Pittsford for 9 years. her cousing Mindy VanVoorhis goes to Henrietta, maybe you knew her.
so cool to know ppl all over
Mark, ahh that's right i forget you live down in F.M. that's a bit of a drive eh? i know the feeling. when i was on the masonry crew we had to drive as far south as Pennsylvania for Q.B.'s. sounds like more ppl need to step up
i agree Ron. i've only CC'ed our Hall once. that was back in my HWE days a few years ago. a couple traffic lanes lightened up but no more. i haven't done it since for various reasons, but the only way i'd clean it is with the 'Mex. if it's good enough for the Bro's in Brooklyn, it's good enough for me.
thanx --- Derek.

Hey Guys,
Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. My point is not that I have to go all the way over there. My point is that no one in WPB is using "The New System"

It is encouraging to see so many brothers here. Maybe we can meet at Connections and/or Rick's Encap fest in a few months. How many will be going to Clearwater May 4-6th? I know it is a short drive for some. But I'll come all the way from Utah.
