Would this method workJanuary 19 2006 at 12:48 AM | Joe M |
| I no longer have a Cimex as it is to heavy for me to lift with my bad back.
I have just ordered a Challenger from Rick and I am thinking of getting the 15" CBM.
What I need to know is this:
If I were to pre spray the DS into the carpet, scrub it in with the 15" CBM and then go over it with a dry cotton pad with the Challenger would that work?
Thanks. |

Joe,
I think you just answered your earlier post. Should I
buy a truckmount? You really need to buy a Ramp, The
cimex is just to big and bulky to lift in and out. I am
6'2" and 255lbs and I won't lift it.
If your jobs are smaller. Buy a sprint. I carry the sprint
on my truck now all the time. I only load up the cimex
when I know it have a big encap job. I use the sprint for
small jobs and some Residential jobs. Anyway sorry to here
about your back and good luck.

Rick, CBM stands for Cylindrical Counter Rotating Brush Machine like the Pilemaster or GLS (or as it is now called LOMAC which stands for Low-Moisture Agitation and Crystallization) |

Joe to answer your question, Yes it will work. You will also find times the second step will not be necessary. |

Someone also posted about using a wheelchair lift/crane. The make them for vans, they just swing out and crank up and swing in. Sounds good
Anyone use one?

| A little more advise please | January 19 2006, 11:23 AM |
I guess what I am trying to do is avoid buying and using a Cimex. I had the 19 model in the past and it was so heavy and bulky to move around also in my area I dont have the type of jobs that require a 19.
My choice is a 15 pile master or a 15 Cimex. I know the pile master would be a lot cheaper and easier on my back.
I know that Ray has all the equipment. Which do you prefer Ray?
I plan to do residential work and some small commercial jobs, maybe some apartment changeovers you know small jobs. Where I live we really don't have any big buildings.

Joe my first choice would be the 15" Pilemaster, easy to handle. My second choice would be the 2sp Betco 17" weight only 47 lbs. and is a real workhorse, cost $1050.00 but worth it. When it comes to commercial nothing beats the Cimex. |

you fellas who don't use a ramp are asking for it. buy or build one.
yes that setup will work Joe, and as Rambo pointed out, many times you might find that the 1st machine is all that is needed.
on a side note, you never want to run a pad dry over carpet, whether it's a cotton pad or synth....especially after you've just put low moisture cleaning solutions down. sure the splash & dash guys can do it, they're putting down waaaay more water than we do to begin with.
thanx --- Derek

Joe,
From what I'm reading your problem is not the heavy Cimex. The problem is a bad back. If that is the case you should be using a ramp for ALL of your equipment. I use a 15" and a 19" Cimex for residential or commercial carpets using pads or brushes. I fact, for the first 10 years I didn't even know you could use pads. There are very few areas where you cannot use the 19". The first few years were spent cleaning residential cut pile carpets with a 19" using brushes.
Right now, I use the two Cimexes and a 17" dual speed swing maching on the high speed and I haven't come across a situation I couldn't handle well. While I have nothing against the Sprint, Challenger or Pile Master, I just haven't seen the need to shell out $2000.00 for equipment when I'm able to handle things with what I have.
Now that I've said that, see my next post. |
