Sofa Cleaning

February 2 2006 at 12:00 PM
Joe M

Hi all,

What is the price for cleaning a sofa?

Also I am not sure if it was on this board or not but a while back there was a link that showed a video of a cleaner doing a sofa using encaping. Does any one know where to view this or who it was from?

Thanks
Joe M

Back when I did residential cleaning, I had a rule of thumb that went like this --- Our approximate minimum was $35 per seating/section... So an arm chair would be $35+, a love seat would be $70+, and a sofa would be $105+.

Keep in mind, this was nearly 10 years ago - so you may need to adjust your prices accordingly. However this gives you an idea.

P.S. I'll take carpet cleaning over upholstery cleaning ANY DAY (upholstery is hard work)! And I'll opt for commercial over residential too.

We charge a minimum of $145 per visit. So most sofas end up being $145 if that's all we're doing.

For unit pricing, we do $16 per linear foot. So a 6 foot long couch is $96, and a 10 foot long couch is $160.

These rates are residential, but if we are doing commercial volume, we could go down if we could stay for a day or most of a day.

Boston area pays more than other towns. But....try to find a place to live here for less than a million dollars a month and you understand why.

I was taught to charge by the linear foot, measaured along the back. Synthetic fabrics $15.00 per ft. Cotton-$20.00 per ft. White cotton-$25.00 per ft. Other natural fabrics silk, leather etc.-$30.00 & up. We were taught that these types of furniture are more expensive. Hence, the greater the risks, the greater the reward. As with Rick, this was 10 years ago. Of course, they must meet your minimum.
