Microfiber??

February 2 2006 at 4:10 PM

I cleaned a Microfiber couch this week. I used my drimaster and HWE. It looked great when I left, But I did
get the dreaded call back. They loved how clean it was but,
the fiber seemed a little stiff. Ant suggestions?? Could you
use encap Punch and a drill driver and brush on this??

You could GENTLY run over the "stiff" fiber (dry) using the Rota Brush on a low speed setting. This should soften the fiber.

Using a bonnet and the drill driver is another good option for low moisture cleaning of upholstery. Encap-Punch works perfectly in this application.

Note: As always, make sure that the fabric can be "wet cleaned" before you clean it. Many upholstery fabrics recommend dry solvent cleaning only.

Dry Cleaning

Is it possible to clean a dry-clean fabric with the encap system? Had a lady the other day with a really nasty couch that could only be dry cleaned, but the dry cleaning had NO effect. Any suggestions?

I have found that most furniture that says "dry clean only" do so for legal reasons. Most probably can we wet cleaned. However, do your due diligence. Identify the fabric, test your cleaner and select your method of cleaning. Use an air mover to speed dry the furniture.

I agree with what Mark said.

I made the comment about wet/dry to stress caution.
It's easy to mess up delicate fabric with wet cleaning.
However using due care and a low moisture method can work on most upholstery.

BTW "microfiber" should clean up just fine with a wet method cleaning.
