Grocery Store Maintenance Ideas...

Hi Everyone,

I have an account with a small family owned grocery store, that is pretty busy. The owner just laid commercial carpet tiles down throughout the entire front end of the store, because the old vct/vat was in terrible shape. Anyhow, we need to keep this maintained, and he wants it to stay looking good of course. We vacuum it once per week with an upright power flite vacuum, and I was thinking of putting him on a 1 time per month at least encap cleaning schedule. He also wants us to be spotting the carpet each week as new spots appear. I would assume I should be ordering and using the encap spot for this and the encap clean DS that I have for the encap cleaning. If I am wrong please stop me, and if anyone has any suggestions I will gladly recieve them. Thank You so much in advance, you all are a great group of cleaning professionals !!!

Regards,

Sounds good to me. However, my experience tells me that once a month will not be enough. If it is a small grocery store as you say, I would run the Cimex with the DS weekly. If you have to take the time with spot remover, you might as well just run the Cimex and clean it.

you need to include a rotation schedule for the tile. the company should have sold them some rotation stock.

mark the tiles A-B-C

remove the A's for cleaning, replace with B's, put C tiles in B's place new tiles in C's place.

if rotated monthly they should look good for along time.

i assume that while you will be vac'ing it once per week, that they will be vac'ing it daily right? in fact if they could vac it a couple few times throughout the day that would be better...maybe when there is a slow spell so as not to distrub customers.

sounds like a good account! yea, if you can i'd nix the spotting and just run the Mex over it. or if you have a Sprint, you can "spot" with it and let it do the work, giving your arms a rest.

thanx --- Derek.

I like Mark's suggestion. If they'll agree to weekly service they'll be getting an excellent level of maintenance for the high traffic volume and heavy soiling that a grocery store will experience. A weekly encap program will keep their carpet looking GREAT!

Price it reasonably and show them the value of taking care of the carpet, and they shouldn't have a problem with it. After all, they've been paying dearly for for having the VCT cleaned, buffed, stripped & recoated (plus it looked bad).

Hope ya get it

Thank You everyone very much! The owner currently wants us to be cleaning the carpet on a monthly basis, and I fully agree about doing them every week. I will try to upgrade him on this idea. Thanks Again! Another job closer to the MEX!!

Thanks,
Aaron Baum

I would think that lots & lots of Soileze protector would be a good pre-emptive strike.

When I last knew Rick Gelinas, he was asking airlines for free tickets to go to conferences hither and yon. Ain't that somethin'?

Huh?

I think you might have the wrong Rick Gelinas.

Never asked an airline for anything - 'cept for maybe to find my lost luggage.
