This weekend….Atlanta

March 20 2006 at 11:02 PM

I haven’t checked this out with Rick and I probably should have, but I cant see why he’d mind too much, me putting this up on the board.

There has been a lot of interest in stone and concrete polishing here on his board. With a little education neither are very difficult. This weekend I will be in northern Atlanta to stain & polish a small concrete floor for a friend if anyone will be in the area. The hours and scheduling will be a little odd no doubt because I’m actually going to Atlanta for another purpose but wanted to fit this in while I was there. If you would like to come and see the process get in touch with me and I’ll see if I can work out the logistics.

Dave sign me up I would love the opportunity. Let me know as soon as you can as my phone has been ringing a lot and I want to make sure I don't schedule something. I would mind getting dirty (helping) not just watching but let me know.

Update

March 21 2006, 11:11 PM

Please keep in mind this is a job that I’m “fitting in” while I’m in Atlanta taking care of another appointment so the scheduling is going to be a little screwy – sorry. I guess the flip side is that it might give some an opportunity to see the beginning, where as others might get to be there for the end of it.

What the “tentative” plan is is something like this:
Leave for Atlanta at about noon on Saturday; get there about 8 or 9.
Do the first three cuts Saturday evening and stain it then also.
Come back about 24 hrs later and apply another coat of the stain.
Probably Monday evening come back and neutralize it, densify the concrete and then do 4 more cuts on it, bringing it up to an 1800 grit diamond.

This is not a large floor, less than 800 sq ft, which comes in nice for a few reasons. For starters I will be doing this job with just the bare essentials with regards to equipment. Also, I average about 1,000 sq ft per hour with the Cimex when I’m cutting concrete, so each cut should take less than an hour to do. And this is also a job for a friend so I’m only covering costs on it.

Sorry the schedule is so bazaar but I figured I’d through it out there and see if anyone might be able to come by and see how all this stuff is done. At this time I don’t have the address handy but it is on the north side of Atlanta. If this sounds like it might work for you let me know and I’ll get you some more info.

Looking forward to meeting you. In fact, see if you can get your brother to throw in a free Cimex for me, and I'll be able to help you double your time!

Kevin, I could try and see if Rick will throw in a free Cimex to cut down on the time – OR – I could bring my second unit; I wonder which one he’ll chose? LOL Of course it’s going to be challenging to fit in the one machine and the few tools I’m bringing and everything else. My youngest son is coming back to work with me in the company so he is going to SFS with me. Along with that, my wife Denise will be coming along, as well as our dog. Now she’s just a baby. She’s just over a year old and only weighs 70 lbs. So we’re looking at a real family affair here – it should be fun.

If those that want to be there could Email me their phone numbers, I’ll be calling everyone on Thursday to touch base. (David@1800marbleguy.com)

Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

David, feel free to call me at 252-341-6599. I've had a stab at stone work which didn't work out for me. I'll be glad to be a "grunt" for you if you need one. I'm flying in Sunday afternoon (as long as the plane stays in the sky like it's supposed to until landing time)! As you can tell, I'm not a big flying fan, but that's just too bad, I reckon.
