Mixed chemicals

O.K. I blew it. Nothing that can't be fixed. I just thought I would see what others think.

I go to this apartment, carpet in good condition, renters moved out, carpet just needs one little place cleaned - about 2x4'.

I decide to spray it with punch and run my Cimex over it. Now, I've got CTI prespray in the Cimex tank so I won't trigger it, right? So, this will work - right? Wrong. I'm dreaming or something and out of habit trigger the solution in the tank. So, now I got CTI and punch mixed up together on the carpet. The carpet looks good but I know this won't work. I leave it and decide I'll go back tomorrow and fix it.
Question - am I going to have to extract this first - or can I just go over it with punch again and everything is going to be o.k?

If nobody knows I'll probably extract it with clear water and then punch it. But I'm lazy. I'd rather just punch it.

What would you do - or better yet, it's happened to you and you fixed it. What did you do.

What do you think - Rick?

If you're gonna go back and "fix" it tomorrow, then you should be absolutely fine. I would just make sure that I rinsed VERY well over that area where you mixed the two. There should be no other problems...of course, others will chime in to give their info as well, but i feel 100% confident in the advice given. You will definately want to extract (maybe I misunderstood that you were'nt going to?)

Just re-read your post...Yes, I would extract, then re-apply/extract again. Also, were you planning on extracting the punch? Thats the process correct? Also, you're talking about 8 sq ft to fix, thats nothing. Better safe than sorry dont you think?

Bo, bad news man.
You're gonna have to pull up the carpet and replace it.

I think you should be fine if you'll just go over it again after it's dry. If you'll use Encap-Clean it should take care of it. Releasit does a very good job of encapsulating dried detergent residues.

Let us know how it turns out.

Your problem will probably be that the small area will make the rest of the carpet look bad. Then you'll have to do the whole room.

Thanks guys. Does the 4x2 spot look better than the rest of the carpet? Well, it did when I left. Actually, the rest of the carpet did look pretty good - probably been cleaned in last couple of months. But I get my minimum, so I'm not put out. Maybe they'll want me to clean the whole thing when they see the clean spot. We'll see.

The owner said the spot wouldn't come out. Piece of cake. I'm glad he wasn't there to see how easy it was. I get called on a lot to clean stuff that others can't seem to get clean. I give the credit to the Cimex - plus, I'm stubborn. I don't use just encapsulation with the Cimex.

Come to think of it - maybe mixing the two chemicals made for a killer cleaner. Dagnabit - now I'll have to find some time to figure this out. It's tough being lazy.

If I have to start mixing chemicals to get the desired results, I'm not using the right one.
