Encap Punch as a pre-spray for Tile & Grout cleaning????

April 12 2006 at 4:31 PM
Ron

Will this work for Tile & Grout cleaning pre-spray and then Cimex in for agitation and then extract with a Turbo Hybrid at 1000 psi to my truckmount?
I tried another pre-spray with high alkaline and de-greaser added, but not so happy with the results.
Perhaps I should be using an acid pre-spray.

Thanks
Ron

Normally you would use a low PH T&G cleaner. Alkaline is for cutting grease.

Dyna-Chem Power Max Powder cuts grease like a champ. Solvent, oxidizer & an enzyme. Nice scent too.

Alkaline cleaning agents are best for grease, oils, tracked in soils from the parking lot, particles soil and similar. On most floors, these are the main culprits.

If you were not happy with the alkaline cleaner you were using, try another. Viper VEnom is good for most floors. In some situations, particularly with natural stone, I suggest Klenz All from Stone Tech.

Acid side cleaners help with efflourescence, hard water stains and urine in restrooms. The acid will actually remove a small layer of the grout. Even if you need an acid cleaner, use an alkaline cleaner first to cut through the oils and grease. Then the acid side cleaner will work better.

Be cautious with acid if working on natural stone. It can damage stone, especially those with calcium content. Acid can also dmage stainless steel and some other surfaces. Be careful about splashing it.

Encap has no real advantage on tile and grout. The polymers will not attch to ceramic tile as they would to a carpet fiber.

the best so far...

Procyon stone tile and grout cleaner has been the best (and the cheapest) so far that I have used. I had some smoked stained rock on my lake house fireplace this spring and it cut it like butter. I'm talking rock here. Great product. They will send you a free sample. and no, I don't sell it (anymore)
