Certified pile brush

July 1 2006 at 2:52 PM
Joe Gilstrap

A few months ago I purchased a used pile brush machine. It has lots of power to the brush, so much so it is actually self propelled. The vacuum seems to be fine because the bag inflates immediately when you turn it on. The problem is that it leaves visible debris on the carpet. The pile lifting and scrubbing ability is outstanding, but my Hoover Conquest does a much better job vacuuming carpet. Does anyone have any experience with these machines? If so I would appreciate any suggestions.

Commercial Vacuum Cleaner (Announcement from Excellent Supply)

My experience is the SAME as yours. The Pile Lifters have great pile lifting capability, but terrible vacuuming. The Hoover Conquest blows them away IMHO.

By the way ladies and gents... We are adding a new vacuum cleaner to our product line. LINDHAUS
http://www.lindhaus.it/pages/rx/rx_02.pdf
http://www.lindhaus.it/pages/rx/rx_02.htm

We just placed our initial order for them this week. These machines are manufactured in Italy. I've been eyeing them for a long time. There is no question about their being an absolutely kick butt commercial vacuum cleaner.

If you're interested in seeing what folks think about Lindhaus vacuums, go over to the ICS message board http://www.i-boards.com/ics/ and do a search on Lindhaus

As you can see from the Lindhaus website, Excellent Supply is now an active distributor http://www.lindhaususa.com/dealers.php

I'm very excited to be able to offer these machines.

A few of the COOL features...
~A 5,000 rpm brush roller (highest speed in the industry)
~A cogged belt that essentially NEVER needs replacing
~Cyclonic airflow around the bag allows the bag to be completely filled
~Electronic sensor circuit to regulate the brush height
~A clutch to protect the motor
~On board attachments
~3M Filtrete Microfilter filtration and optional HEPA
~3 Bearing metal roller
~Easily replaceable brush strips
~Convergent brush design
~Extremely low sound level

The Hoover Conquest may be the Hummer of commercial vacuum cleaners. Lindhaus is a Ferrari! It blows away everything on the market (including Windsor/Sebo or any other commercial unit).

Prepare to be seriously impressed!

Response to Re: Dyson vac's
Having used and worked on numerous models over the last 27 years I have formed some definate opinions. Part is based on watching the enormous Oklahoma City School district experiment over the years. We worked on their equipment 1980 - 2002.

They tried Royals, Castex, Kirby, Sanitaires, Advance/Lindhaus, Hoover Conquest, Windsor, Nobles (basically the same as the Castex}, SC Johnson/Fantoms.

Mind you, a low paid employee working in "Dust Bowl" conditions is not going to have the experience of an individual who cares for his equipment. But we always viewed OKC Schools as an extreme test. If you held up to them, you would surely hold up to residential or individual contractor use.

Based on user satisfaction, amounts of repairs, time in service, this is how they rate.

Hoover Conquest
Windsor
Sanitaire
Kirby
Castex
Nobles
Royal
Advance/Lindhaus
SC Johnson/Fantoms

When they totally went to contract cleaning they still had numerous Hoover and Windsor that had been in service for many years. The SC Johnson and Advance vacuums were totally out of service in 3 - 6 months.

From my own experience- I use the Windsor Versamatic, Koblenz 510 dust cup and Hoover Conquest. But in all honesty, everything works good when it is new. The only ones, in our experience, that have proven their worth over the long haul are the ones listed above and the Sanitaire. Always a safe choice, and cheap to keep running.

And Dysons? Too new. The SC Johnson/Fantoms were going to revolutionize vacuum cleaning. Within a year we had returned all of them to the distributor. If only the Fantom came in all those fun colors...

FYI

I appreciate your views on the vacuums that you've sold and serviced Dave. However comments from commercial cleaners in the field using the Lindhaus machines are somewhat different.

Here are a few comments about the Lindhaus vacuums that I copied from the ICS, CleanFax, and CM message boards. These are comments from actual users. Their comments reflect their personal experience using Lindhaus vacuums in their businesses...

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I have used a Lindhaus upright for 3 years...good vacuum, bulletproof, built like a tank.

The Lindhaus 350 or 450...Hands down the best commercial vac out....it will last u at least 10 years and its really powerful....the 380 runs around $475, i dont know how much more a 450 is...the 450 is just wider...they make a 500 but its HUGE!!!! great for wide open commercial but not a home or office....

I conned my mom into buying a commercial Lindhaus 2 years ago,and she loves it,I've tried it out and it is a great vacuum.

Only trouble I have with it is the bags are quite small.

Re: best vacuum for the dollar

My vacuum for uprights is a Lindhaus Healthcare PRO HEPA.

Motor is 85 CFM for vac, separate motor for the nozzle (powerhead) which spins a cogged belt at 5,000 RPM.

It is HEPA-Type as measured by ASTM.

I paid $595 for each of them, and they are now 6 years old, and used daily.

I have sent one into to replace finally broken plastic casings...$85.

I will be able to use them, I imagine for another 4--5 years.

PropTeam back packs & Lindhaus 2 motor uprights (also sold as Advance Carpetwin). We used Windsor Versamatics for many years, but found that the Lindhaus cleans better for about the same price. Haven't had the new Versamatic yet. For loop pile go with back packs. Lindhaus 380 is around $400. Pro-Team Super Coach w. easy glide attachment is about $450.

Consider the Lindhaus RX-380. It is a twin-motor upright with HEPA filtration.

Windsor Versamatic Plus or Lindhaus are the only (2) choices to be considered.

The one vacuum that fits all of the criteria you mentioned is a Lindhaus. These are high quality machines that are built to last for years. The profile is very low, the on board tools are easy to use, the 2 motor system has built in overload features and a brushroll that hits the carpet at 5000 rpms.
The powerhead can be used for hard floor or carpet with the flip of a switch or can be removed to have a wood floor felt attachment.
It literally is library quiet. We use one at one of our commercial contracts, the City Library. The filteration with and without a hepa is excellent because this vacuum has a sealed system. Maintenance is very easy too. We have two of them and it withstands a lot of abuse.

Lindhaus!
The only company that manufactures everything that goes in the vacuum.

Great features like dual motors, safety mechanism that stops the beater brush when you suck up a drape or cord, detachable power head to use in corners, bulletproof! I can jump up and down on it lying flat on the floor and have done it several times to show customers and still works like a charm.

Best of all they are not that expensive $400 new. I picked mine up used for $300. These are like used cars, they will last for years and go through different owners!

Check one out at a good independent vacuum store.
