| A customer of mine had some magic marker (Not permanent, RED) on her carpet (regular plush, blue color), courtesy of her daughter. They tried to remove it with several products from the local grocery store...and they scrubbed it in good. I tried Stain Magic, and Red Relief to no avail. It got slightly lighter, but still very visible. Any ideas? I told her its probably set for good, most likely from the three different products they used to get it out. I told her next time use some Alcohol (Isyprp, 91%). |

| The secret to removing red and other stains... | July 26 2006, 7:35 PM |
Over 5 yrs ago, and trying most all of the methods on the mkt., I decided not to attempt to remove any stain. Spots on top of the fiber, stains have done one of two things, they have penetrated the fiber or they have changed the color of the fiber (bleach removes the color, Plant food spilled on the carpet changes the color to blue or green) On my walk thru, I tell the customer/client that is probably a permanat stain and will not come out. They usally say they know that and have tried everything to remove it. I have never had a complaint about this, and have saved many hours. Works for me. I have no hero complex and am not superman. |

Excellent advice, I usually tell them that after wasting hours trying different stuff...I guess I'll just have to do that first next time! I am always worried that they might have a friend over some day that says, Hey, I know a carpet cleaner that can clean that, and then of course, The guy cleans it and I loose a customer, and of course a bit of pride!

I got my start in my town because of a ccer that tells his customers that it is normal to have wickbacks, and permanent stains, nothin you can do about it..and its also normal for a carpet to take 3 days to dry. Whats crazy is how many people believe what he says, just because they like him,and trust him.Been doing this for over 20 yrs.
I have another ccer friend that tells em the same thing. He uses a walk behind and a neutral detergent,on every job.No spotting,no protector, and only cleans synthetic furniture.Been doing this for 15 years.
Are cleaners like this smart,or stupid?
