I was cleaning two small apartments yesterday. When a competetor brought in his equipment in the same bld. This is a well know franchise no names just intitals SS.
You know $99 dollar special. I watched what these guys were doing HWE on all the hallway,stairs with portables. 95 degrees outside, no pre-spray. Just a wand and hot water. It amazes me that the people who hired them are happy with their work. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

All I kept thinking is how well the cimex and encap would have worked on this job. I could smell the stench of Thier job. It smelled like wet dog and they were not wool carpets. It was just so hot and humid.

Recently a friend of mine, who also cleans carpet, went to a lady's house to clean her windows. She had the same company come into clean 3 rooms and a hallway. They advertise it locally at, I think, $85 or $95, something like that. Anyway, he's watching 'em. They get through and present the lady a bill for $180! Talk about B & S!
My daughter is friends with the owners' daughter. Their daughter told mine that they talk down the competition to make 'em look bad so they can get the work.
What a way to build a company. I'm so honest they used to call me "Honest Abe" in high school! If I had their advertising dollars, I'd be a rich man. Oh well.

A few months back I (just for the hell of it) called them SS for a price.

I told the lady on the other end that I had two rooms to clean two 10x12's

I was told it was 112.00 and they would need an outside water hook up.

This was from the SS guys. No extra services(ordor control or Scotch Guard).

Now I guess thats not a bad price. I know I charge or when I was doing carpets (on a little break to find myself). I would charge 2rms for $70.00 and bring my own water.

Millions of ad $$$$ does tend to brainwash........ How much do you think the ladies get paid who are on there swearing their allegiance?

I was cleaning a duplex one day when Big Yellow rolled up beside my van to clean the next unit (same size, same carpet). They started about 20min after I did and finished 30min before I left. And I still made a nice profit on mine.

I cleaned a house 30 days after the SS company scammed her. The lady said do you believe that this carpet was just cleaned. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in over a year. But also as I was driving around I found a house for sale and an agent said I think those people need their carpets cleaned but already have SS. I knocked on the door, gave the guy a business card and he let me in with my test bottle and towel. As soon as I tested their worse dirt I had the job booked. Poor SS lost another one.
