Maint worker spilled 2 gallons of gas on nylon pile. Any suggestions?

It can be really hard, or impossible, to get all the residue out of the carpet. There's no way I'd want to stand behind a job where I was being paid to remove 2 gallons of gasoline from a carpet. Plus it very likely damaged the latex and or adhesive at the backing too. Gasoline fumes are carcinogenic. That represents a bio-hazard that should be promptly removed and replaced IMHO. Just my 2 cents.

the gasoline will eat up the latex which holds the carpet together. Junk it! No salvation.
