Hey guys,

I have been encapping with the mex and releasit for several months now. I did a big cgd job last night that had a couple of waves in the carpet from previous steam cleaning. This morning the carpet had bubbles all thru it. I will have to do something to fix this. Any ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks- Bob Ledlow

This is an INSTALLATION problem. Make that absoulutely clear to your customer.

CGD =That stands for Commercial GLUE Down Carpet.

If the carpet was glued to the substrate as it should have been, there's no possible way for it to come loose and devlop waves like you're seeing now.

Additionaly if it developed waves, like you described, it's most likely a unitary backing constructed carpet, without a scondary backing. Unitary backed carpets MUST be glued down.

Long story short this is an INSTALLER ISSUE, and the installer should be held accountable for the problem.

That being said, the carpet will most likely relax a little as the humidity/moisture content dissipates completely. The condition may correct itself, or at least improve, in acouple of days with normal foot. So let the customer know that they may very well see an improvement in a day or two.

You really need to make them aware of the reasons why this occurred. You used a LOW MOISTURE cleaning method for crying out loud, can you imagine what would have happened if you HWE cleaned the carpet?

This is an installer issue, so don't let it become your problem. Place the blame for this condition squarely where it belongs.

BTW the only way to properly remedy this problem is to pull up the carpet and glue it down correctly, as it should have been when it was installed.

Sorry I don't have happier news for you.
