Brian, it will take a little pratice on how much to spray down, it should be enough to make a light white haze on the carpet when you run the machine over it. Using a Host (T-6) is a little light for good encapping. I would suggest you get a couple of ankle weights that runners use and wrap two around the handle on each end of the machine, it will really make a difference. The Host machine with the handle removed makes an excellent stair cleaner.

Ray gave some god advice above. Actually if you're spraying it down you'll want to spray it a little wetter than you would when you apply pre-spray. Make sure that you use a coarse spray tip on your sprayer (.06 spray tip or larger). Spray down the detergent at a rate of 300 sq per gallon of mixed product. Then scrub slowly making an overlapping V pass, like you would with an upright vacuum cleaner. Take your time and you should get good results even with a light Host machine.
