5,000 sq ft up in smoke

Rick, helllllpppppp!!!

I had a 10,000 sq ft job today and half way through my job the cimex started to smoke inside the box (where the on/off switch is located) I unplugged as quick as I could. I ordered a belt a couple of days ago but it looks the the problem is the cord. I just got home and unscrewed the box and my cord is fried. I have encap jobs starting early Monday Morning. I will have to use my sprint. I finished today's job with my sprint. Rick what is my next step... I assume get an electrician a.s.a.p. do you guys carry cords..

Your local hardware store will carry electrical cord by the foot. Just be sure to get a cord that is the correct gauge.

As Richard mentioned above, an electrical supply house should carry a cord that will work for your Cimex. You might want to try going to an electrical "motor repair" shop in your area. We use a motor repair shop to do our electrical repairs, and I've recommended this to others as well. Motor repair shops are in the business of servicing any kind of problem you're likely to encounter on a machine with a motor. They can replace your cord and can take care of any electrical problem you encounter. I think it's good to have a motor repair shop you can turn to when you need assistance.

BTW, here's what we do with wrapping the cord on our Cimex machines. We wrap the cord around the handle one time. This prevents the kind of cord tugging that might cause a short in the switch box so shorts can be avoided. And it also provides a place to hang a spray bottle of Spill Stain Treatment.

Give me a call at the office tomorrow if I can assist you in any way. Sorry you had a problem.

i think my cord wil outlast every piece/part on my Cimex. why? i wrap it around my neck when cleaning.

my head will pop off long before the cord does.

thanx --- Derek.
