Cimex noise

My Cimex started making a noise today and I can't figure out what it is. It makes a squeaking noise when going forward. It sounds like a bearing so I put the head up with the motor off and turned the head and it makes a slight noise like that. My machine is about a year old and has always been quiet. Anyone got any ideas. Thanks for the input if you do.

Hi Joe,

Sounds like you need a new belt. Order one from Rick, he will send it right out to you. Replace, and you will be back in biz. Cimex will be back to its quiet self.

As the Cimex machines age they begin to make a bit more noise. Just like how people begin to groan and creek as they get older too

The most common noise factors on a Cimex are as follows:

~Axle rotation causes squeaking.
Just lubricate the wheels and the axle.

~Scraping noise from under the motor cover.
This is caused by the plastic motor cover getting bumped and the cover is rubbing against the motor impeller. Just remove the set screws on either side of the cover and reset the cover in place and the problem is resolved.

~Scraping/squeaking sound from the front of the machine.
This is caused by the sides of the yellow shroud coming in contact with the blue drive deck. Here's what happens. As the head of the machine comes up and hits the end of the fork, eventually the shroud becomes concaved. The force of the fork pushes in on the shroud so the front of the shroud is raised and the rear edges of the shroud dip lower. The edges can then make contact with the top of the drive deck and scrape. A simple fix is to put the head of the machine on the floor and step on the front of the shroud. This will press the noise of the shroud down and bring up the rear of the shroud so it no longer scrapes the deck.

~Creaking/grinding sound from inside the head of the machine.
This is an indication that the bearings are getting tired. The bearings will EVENTUALLY start to wear after MANY THOUSANDS of square feet of carpet cleaning. If they get real bad it may be time to replace the bearings.

If you want to call me on Monday I can trouble shoot it for you and help you to set matters straight

Have a nice weekend!
