Hey Rick,

I tested my new machine today and found out all that we had spoken about to be true. I was on an uneven surface and the machine was tough to move. I am interested in putting a electic solenoid on this machine. I found a Grainger about 30 minutes from me. Would my best bet be to go there and speak to them about what I am looking for? The machine really moves out but I am worried about over-spray.

Hard floor cleaning

October 10 2006, 9:48 PM

Hi Rick,
First off, thankyou so much for answering my questions that I had regarding the Cimex. I've been using it for 3-4 months now. I'ts a great machine, and the results are VERY good. I clean mainly commercial carpet, but I clean a fair amount of residential carpet as well. I have to say the machine is working fantastic on both, I'm using the fiber plus pads on everything.

I was wondering if you could line me out on what I need to do to clean hard floors in a residential setting with the 19 in. Cimex. I don't want to strip floors, just give them a good cleaning. I've had some reqests for: Tile and grout, laminate, and linoleum. I would also like to clean hard wood if possible. I think this would be a good addition since I'm already there cleaning their carpet. Sorry this is so long, and by the way, Realeasit DS is a super product! Thankyou so much, and God bless you.

Tile and grout:
Scrub with 4805 brushes on the Cimex. Use a strong detergent such as floor stripper. Allow adequate dwell time before scrubbing.
Wet vac and rinse the floor thoroughly.

Laminate:
Scrub the floor with the Cimex using FiberPlus Max pads. Use a neutral or all purpose cleaner. Allow adequate dwell time before scrubbing. Wet vac and rinse after scrubbing. (On wood floors avoid using much water - dry it quickly)

Vinyl: Same as laminate, however you can use a light striping solution on these floors too.

This is a very BASIC simplified description of what's involved. But it gives you an idea of what's involved. Keep in mind that grout can hold soil - it's porous, so stronger measures such as the use of an acid cleaner may at times be needed. And Laminate and vinyl flooring can become discolored too and they may be impossible to restore fully. So under-promise and continue to learn all you can about floor care.

The floor care board is a great place to go too (link on this board) http://www.i-boards.com/bnp/cfc/
And don't hesitate to give me a call if you have questions. I've serviced more hard surface floors in my life than I care to remember

Why most of us stick to carpet. But in the earlier years, most of us did a little of everything to keep the money comming in.
