Does anyone here us one? Can you just walk behind it or not? We have the 14 and the 18 but we are getting some very big jobs and I think it would work great.
Thanks

A typical WIDE area vacuum is pretty inefficient. By the time you extend the brush roller slot out to 28" or 30" your suction drops off to just about nothing. With such a wide orifice there's minimal suction. So the wide area vacuums are essentially used for just picking up bits of lint and paper from the surface of the carpet.

Here's what I like about the 28" Hoover...

A unit like the 28" hoover Conquest is NOT a typical wide orifice vacuum. Instead it's actually 2 separate 14" vacuums joined together at the hip. So you're working with 2 separate vacuum motors. And you have 2 separate narrow 14" vac orifices. The 2 vacuum chambers aren't so wide that the suction falls off like it does with a typical wide area vacuum.

If you want a wide vacuum that can actually remove dry soil from down deep in the fiber, the 28" Conquest would be a decent vacuum to consider. I don't personally know of a more efficient one.

Can it be used in a "push" only mode? That's really not a good idea. Vacuum cleaners need make a backward pass, that is the cleaning pass. Could it be used in a "push" only manner? Well it could, however you won't be pulling nearly as much soil from the fiber as you would if you followed with a backward pass.
