| Was offered a position with a contracting company for another trip to Iraq. Don't think I can pass this one up. So.....I'm getting rid of some of my equipment. I hope I can post this, but would it be ok to list auction numbers?
Thanx |

Was deployed to Saddam's hometown in 2003-2004 when i was active. Swore that I would never go back. The problem (if you want to call it that) is that after 11 years in the Army, I find that I still have that close knit bond with my "brothers" and good friends. It's strange, but I have been the one to try to talk my friends out of going back as a civilian. The money just isnt worth it dying for. That being said, 2 of my good friends from the Army are going back as contractors. Business here is good, but the bond we have is stronger.
It's best described as a need to ensure their safety I guess. A need to watch out for one another.
I was just curious as to whether or not I would be offered a position, so I email my resume out to a few companies and received a call the following day and was offered a position paying 160K annually. After much thought, I came to the conclusion that it would be in my family's best interest if I took the risk. I need to note that this is a position as an aviation mechanic. I will be on an airfield, as far away from harm as possible, given the circumstances.
I made the decision to have the business continue, but to downsize. My wife will continue to operate and grow the company. After this year, I will be able to pay off the house, car, all credit cards, and still have enough to either purchase more new equipment, or relocate to my home state of Indiana and start over. I really have a problem with what I am able to charge here. Out of 40 local cleaners, only 1 of those charges by he square foot, with the rest being $15-$20/area guys. I need to relocate, to an area with a higher per capita income. This place depends on Fort Hood, and we all know that the military doesnt pay that well. There is no industry here...none what-so-ever. Only military. Even then, only 50% are here at any given time.
