If the berber is'nt very dirty, you can get by with it. But if it is pretty dirty and has'nt been cleaned for a long time then you need to use OP or HWE. The dirt needs to be pulled out. I love encap but I personally would not use it anywhere except on commercial.

i see where you're coming from Joe.

but Encap can be used with both HWE and OP.

ppl like to think of Encap as only using with a Cimex. the chemistry has many uses.

i've Encaped berber with great success with both my Cimex and Challenger, using Encap Clean and Punch respectively.

thanx --- Derek.

Joe,
Think about it. Commercial closed loop carpet and berber are quite similar. Both present the similar cleaning challenges. Would that not reqire similar cleaning methods?

Additionally, if HWE is necessary, Encap Punch is designed to be used in extracion cleaning.

Commercial and berber do have some structural similarities but the environments are totally different. The commercial which gets mainly foot traffic and the berber in a home situation which is likely to have everything thrown at it. Food, pets, kids, spills etc.
Don't get me wrong, I would like to straight encap everything. It would be much easier, but residential carpet (at least in Kentucky) is a real challenge and usually requires a lot of weapons in the old arsenal.
I have straight encapped berber and it looked a lot better, but then I brought in the wand just to test the results and one swipe looked like painting a white line down the highway.
In my opinion, if you do a great job just encapping a resi carpet, then it did'nt need much to begin with.
Let's face it guys, we still don't have the miracle method for residential carpet. It still requires work and usually a lot of it.
