| I cleaned a 6200 sqft church today with my 19" Cimex and timed the whole thing to get some production info. I prevacced @ 4,000 feet per hr, (sanitaire wide-body)then cleaned...Going over a glue down in a children's playroom (CGD grey, tight loop berber) with MANY stains, I used the gray pads and went over it twice, just as you describe for normal soiling. I only averaged 1,100 feet / hr (you recommend 2,000 / hr)...a little slow, i guess. BUT when I put on the beige pads for the rest of the church, with a finer red carpet (didnt want too much friction)I did a single pass method, but was pushing 4,000 feet/ hr! My problem is if I try to go down to the recommended 3,000 feet/hr, I would barely have the solution trigger depressed; sometimes I would put down too much solution and it will splash around momentarily. It was really hard to control flow at that speed. Any ideas on how to stay in the recommended ranges?
Thanks!

Use the ball valve at the bottom of the tank to about half flow or less. That way you just adjust once to the pace you want and you just hold the trigger wide open with no problems.
The other way is to just put your pointer finger between the trigger and handle so you can slow down the flow or else just feather the trigger pulling it on and off like you would with an extractor wand.
Just a few idears

Production ranges normally run 2,000 sq ft per hour for average/normal conditions making a wet-pass and a dry-pass. It bumps up to the 3,000 sq ft range for lighter soiled carpets. And it can drop down to 1,000 sq ft per hour for challenging carpets or where you have to work around a lot of stuff. The bulk of the cleaning should fall within the 2K-3K range.
The 2K-3K sq ft average is for operating the Cimex, it doesn't include vacuuming. Your production rates sound about right to me. You said you had to work on a lot of stains on the part that went slower. I find that if I have to address more soiled areas, my production will drop down to the 1-2K sq ft range. And you were topping out in the 4K sq ft range on the lighter soiled areas which is very good.
As far as the flow goes, Rick Thode's comments are on the money. You can back off the ball valve under the tank to restrict the flow if you want to. My personal preference is to simply FEATHER the trigger. The nice thing about Releasit is the faint white foam that tells you you're applying just the right amount of detergent. You'll want to look for a light even whitening of the surface. Let that be indicator as to how much juice you're using.
These are just averages, and there are a many variables. Carpet soil loads, fiber type and density, clutter in the cleaning path, etc... there are a lot of factors that can affect production. But as a rule, we operate our Cimex machines at 2K-3K most of the time. And that rate seems like a pretty good rule of thumb to go by.

There is one way to pick up on your production rate and I have been doing this. When I first started using the cimex I would make a wet pass and then a dry pass ( no matter what the size of room or office. As you know the after pulling the trigger the cimex takes a couple of seconds to get going and a couple of seconds to stop the flow of solution after the trigger is released. Now in smaller areas I wet out the whole area and then make my dry passes especially in offices. I did a job last week that used to take me 4 hrs total time. I finished in 2.5 hours and I had the same great results. Try wetting out smaller area's and then make your dry pass.

I am working on some proposals to do some churches. The question came up about how to clean under the church pews.
Do you have any suggestions. I have the Cimex and and HWE unit.
