Your Business/Be Proud

Be proud of your business as we provide a very needed service-healthy and clean environments for our customer/clients. Consider: What consumerism is at worst, is getting people to buy things that don't actually improve their lives. The one thing that offends me most is when I drive by a Bank and see adds trying to convince people to re-finance their homes, or take out a second mortgage, so they can go on vacation. That is approaching Evil. Sorry, had to get that off my chest. I am a CCer and Proud of it. Remember, every successful enterprise needs three people-A Dreamer-A Businessman and A Son of a Bit*h (You can be all three)

Well said Ray!

Professional carpet cleaners brings REAL VALUE to their clients. Cleaner homes are healthier to live in. Cleaner businesses are more productive to work in. People feel better in clean surroundings. Productivity increases. Business increases. The life of the floor covering increases. There are so many benefits. When we provide a home or business with clean carpet, we're improving the quality of people's lives. That is something to feel good about.

Be Proud

December 23 2006, 7:55 AM

Well said Ray. I feel the same way. I have never been ashamed of what I do. Sometimes when people ask what I do, I get Ohhh! thats great, But I see how happy people are when I complete a job. It makes them feel good, which makes me feel good. I know sometimes we are considered like Rodney Dangerfield, but as long as I know I'm doing my best and that makes me happy and my customers. Oh by the way the money is pretty good. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Of course it’s always nice . . . (kinda long - sorry)

December 23 2006, 1:41 PM

. . . when a client has something nice to say about you or your service too.

About three weeks ago we were called into a home that was going to closing that Wednesday. It was a brand new home worth about 1.5M and someone cracked the granite on the tub surround, we were called in to see if it was fixable and if not the homeowner/buyer wanted it replaced.

The super for this new home met us at the door, we went in and in about an hour or so the super was blown away. He was very pleased with the repair. That was all well and good but it was the woman buying the home that had the final say. The next day I found out she was very happy and actually wanted us to come in and take care of some other work for her.

While we were there making the repair I talked with the super about the services we offer and told him that if any of the other 12 or so homes in this little development they were building needed our services that I would gladly give him a referral fee for helping us make the connection. A few weeks go by and I get a call from the next door neighbor that they want us to come in and do some work for them as well. Long story short it was set up for this past Thursday.

A somewhat funny thing happened when we got there Thursday. I and one of my guys got there first and started to do our setup and one of my other guys, Alan, was going to meet us there, he was the same guy that was with me when we made the repair at the first house. Because of where I had parked Alan thought I was at the home where we made the repair so he walked up to that door and the wife invited him in. Actually she was a little bent out of shape.

She was upset because we never got back in touch with them and she and her husband wanted more work done. On top of that she went on and on to her husband about us and now we hadn’t gotten back with her. Actually I personally stopped by the Friday before but she wasn’t home so she wasn’t aware of it. So Alan comes over to the correct house and tells me what all took place; a little bit latter I met with her, explained that I did stop by, looked at what she and her husband wanted & gave her a price for it.

Back to the second job – While doing the prep work Alan discovered that the marble countertop for the BBQ had one corner broken off and it was just hanging there. He brought it to the nannies attention (so we wouldn’t get blamed for it), who called the homeowner. Evidently the homeowner called the builder because latter that day the builder; I mean the builder, the guy that the construction company is named after stopped by to look at the broken piece. I introduced myself and he said, “Yeah, I know who you are, you fixed Mrs. _______ granite and if you can make her happy you can make anybody happy.” He then asked if I could fix this piece for him and what the cost would be. I told him normally it would be $640.00 but if I could do it while we were there I’d do it for him at $420.00. He said take care of it. The end result is I had my newest guy do the actual repair after talking him through it and it came out flawlessly. He did a great job!

We were still working when the husband and wife got home that evening. He got home first and I walked him through what we had done that day and he was very happy, then I did the same with her when she got home. I took the opportunity to explain a few things to them as well about their stone. When I called the super the next day to see if he had a chance to look at the repairs and to make certain they were happy I got a nice surprise. He said they were ecstatic. The husband couldn’t believe that we actually took the time to take digi pics of the placement of their things on all the counters before we serviced them, so we would know where everything went when we put it back together. Come to find out when my new guy John was breaking everything down and putting it all back together the husband asked him why he kept looking at his PDA. John explained it to him and he was amazed. They also had some other nice things to say as well. The super’s reply to me was that he will be telling everyone in the development about us and sending them our way simply because it’s so hard to find people that perform and do what they say their going to do and do it right. He was just as excited as the homeowners were. Imagine how excited he’ll be when he gets his mail next week?

It’s really nice when people have nice things to say about you & your work.

Adding Heros...

December 23 2006, 6:41 PM

I am adding Jeno Paulucci to my list, I already have David Oreck (he is 83 and still flys his own plane and rides his Harley to work 5 days a week) Jeno (he started his Chun King business in 1944) is 88 and still works 5 days a week. He stats at 8 now instead of 6AM. He sold his Jeno's Pizza rolls to General Mills in 1985 for $150 million after selling Chun King to R J Reynolds for $63 million. He has no plans to retire and is selling products to Russia and is getting ready to enter the Chinese market. Danny, I have no problem being the "Grandfather" on this BB as long as you treat me with the respect you would your own grandfather. I am actually a Great Grandfather with two Great Grandchildren age 7 and 2. I am going to use my greatgrand son on my web site, along with my son and grandson as four generations to serve you. Kind-a Kewl as none of my competition can say that.
