No Soil

Last week a friend purchased a home and asked me to clean the carpet. A typical good quality cut pile carpet hardly soiled. I pre-vaced, pre-sprayed with Punch, Cimex with DS & HWE'd with Punch. I told him to vacuum again after it was completely dry.

I saw him two days later and he told me that he went out and bought a new Miehle vacuum and went over the whole carpet. When he opened the vacuum there was no soil.

I tried a search on the forum for the reason for this, but, couldn't find it. I remember it being discussed a while back. Anyone know why?

The main reason that your friend did'nt get any soil is probably because "THERE WAS'NT ANY"! When you HWE'd you removed the soil. You went a little overboard on a lightly soiled carpet did'nt you? One thing for sure, you did a thorough job. Since the carpet was so lightly soiled you could have saved some chemical, and also left your Cimex in the truck. Pre-spray and HWE would have been plenty.

Hi Mark,

I think Joe nailed it.

Sounds like HWE probably pulled the bulk of any soil that might have been in the carpet.

Boy, that is alot of steps on lightly soiled carpet. A Miele vacuum cleaner is a good one to post vac a job. If it was a canister, they move 135 cfm. A lot do not know that Miele from Germany is the oldest vac company in the world. I cary the Profi (professional model) on my van daily. I also believe you removed any visable residue with the HWE. That doesn't mean that there is not residue left in the carpet after HWE. You can never get a carpet 100% clean with any system.

Thanks Guys,
The reason I HWE'd the carpet is that the previous owner had a dog and my buddy was concerned about "deposits", so I did it for his benefit. Don't worry, he paid for it.
