water spots on CGD at Pool and Spa store.

did 5000 sf CGD blueish carpet with water rings in several places. The place sells pools and spa and they have some with water in them as demo. water gets spilled and they try to remove it with a rainbow vacuum. I was HWE this and did try some realeasit with my electolux 3 brush shampoo machine, it did ok in some areas and other areas not to good.

I use punch at 10oz for gal w/hot water for prespray and heavy spray the water rings. they did not for the most part come up and the carpet overall did not look good.

the owner said she knew it was not going to be new looking but thought it would be more clean looking. it did as well.

looking for advise and something to do. I want to go back and try to get more of the water rings to disappear at least.

not happy with outcome

thanks

What you need to know is what in the water caused the rings.. ie when I have to deal with water rings from a fresh water pipe. I know an acid rinse will work well because it is just minerals that caused the stain..  If the rings were caused by the chemicals used to keep the water in the hot tubs sanitized, Then you need to know what they used. Was it Chlorine, Bromine(spelling) or was it a nature 2 filter that uses copper and nickel( I know they use these on swimming pools in the Northeast). Was it an alternitive to chlorine that is used. I think once you know what you are dealing with you will be able to get better results. But first go back and see what dry vacuuming, vacuums up now that you have let the release it dry...

I myself would try an HWE acid rinse to start...

Carl,

This would be a PERFECT job for a Cimex, or a rotary machine. Do you have a rotary machine that's stouter than the Electrolux?

Here's what we suggest for water rings...

1. Mix Encap-Clean about 50% stronger than normal
2. Add 1 rounded tablespoon of citric acid powder to 3 gallons of detergent. The acidic soluition will help to correct the water marks.
3. Scrub with FiberPlus pads. Concentrate on the water rings making SEVERAL additional dry passes. Scrub SLOWLY, really take your time.
4. Avoid over-wetting. Keep it as dry as possible. Speed dry the carpet with fans and possibly even do some post-bonneting to accelerate the drying even more.

rick,
thanks for the info. right now only have the electrolux, will have to find me a
good use rotory and get some of your pads.

I am guessing the water does have some chems. I remember the guy saying Bromine or something like that..
I will give that a try and see what happens.

Encap'ing with under-powered equip = not good results

hiyas Carl

i tried using my Host machine to encap with for the 1st time a few years ago. the results were less than adequate. fortunately for me and my fam, i didn't let those results sway my decision to buy a machine that gives professional results.

hope you can find something like this so you can get a true idea of what you can accomplish with it. take care --- Derek.
