Cimex in a rug pit

January 19 2007 at 3:24 PM

Kevin Pearson

Does anyone have a rug pit that they fill with water and run their Cimex in. We have been using the Cimex in our rug pit and have not had any problems so far. But how will the Cimex stand up over the long haul if we continue scrubbing rugs with it in 2-4 inches of water. I just do not want to buy another machine for the rug pit right now.

The reason I am asking is that I went to work with a guy on monday that uses a Rotary in his pit and it is lighter and sits up higher out of the water.

PS I also included some pictures of our new building. No more renting it is a beautiful thing.

Super nice photos there Kevin!

Here's a photo of Scott Rendal's rug pit with a Cimex...

Hey Kevin, you might want to contact Scott, or Steve (dusty) Roberts.
These guys have spent a lot of time with their Cimex machines in the rug pit
and they could give you the low down on what you might expect with the Cimex.

How is the rug business going for you?

Your set up looks very sharp!

Kevin,
Your building looks great. What are your fees for in house rug cleaning? I hope to get out of my two car garage soon. I am not sure if I want to offer in house cleaning. What thoughts can you offer?
Thanks,

Rick it is good to know other guys have been using the Cimex in the pit. It is such an awesome scrubber I would hate to use anything less.

Thanks for the comments on the building. The building is new but all the stuff in it is not. I have been cleaning rugs the whole 15 years I have been in the business. The last 6 years I have owned my own business.

We just changed the way we charge for cleaning rugs. We did have one price wool and synthetics, now we price them differently. A synthetic rug is $1.50 a square foot to clean, unless it has urine in it then it is $2.50 a sf. If you bring it in and pick it up when it is ready then we knock off $.50 a sf. Wool rugs are $2.50 sf unless you bring it in and pick it up then we knock off $.50 a sf. If they have urine in them then it is at least a $1.00 a sf more. We cleaned one the other day that we charged $5.00 a sf. So we just look at them before we give a price and decide how long it could take to clean and charge accordingly.

PS The building is 1500 sf. and we are starting to build another 1200 sf this week right behind it.
