In spite of what the ever knowing and all wise Waldo said ...
Champagne pads have a similar color, however they do not contain the elastomeric ingredient that FiberPlus pads have. The elastomeric property that gets added to our FiberPlus pads imparts stability and accounts for good wear characteristics on carpet. Without that elastomeric ingredient, our pads would quickly fall apart on carpet like other pads do.

Hey Rick,
I went back a couple of years searching for info on what pads would be safe on quality rugs (wool etc…) you advised against using Fiberplus pads, has anything changed? What pads would you recommend that’s safe for prespray agitation with the Vento or Challenger OP machines?

Considering most of my fellow carpet cleaners do not have 7 and 1/2 years of college under their belt as myself. I figured I would help them out.
Elastomeric= any of various elastic substances resembling rubber.

Jim, we use the fiber plus pads on rugs with great success. We have been doing it for 3-4 years now and never ruined a rug with them.

I have tried using a look a like pad. Did a white , or Champaigne pad hurt the carpet? No it did not. However the fiberplus pads will last a lot longer. The other pads did not go nearly as far. I would say I am pretty close and accurate when I say I used 3 look a like pads to 1 of the fiber plus pads... |

Kudos to Waldo. The word elastomeric does relate to a form of rubber.
Jim, the FiberPlus pads can be safe for wool rugs. However if you have a delicate wool rug, the SOFT shampoo brushes are more gentle. For example, if I were cleaning an antique oriental rug I'd want to go with the soft brushes. Yet as Kevin Pearson showed us, the FiberPlus pads are effective and safe be on a wide range of wool rugs (thanks for sharing that Kevin).

The trick is to keep you pads real wet. Some rugs will tend to shed and the fiber plus pads do make that worse, but keeping the pads wet helps out a lot with that. Also, if you are real worried about it then keep some of Rick's bonnets on hand to throw on the Cimex. The bonnets will do a good job also. Since I had never used bonnets before we bought the Cimex we tend to use them wrong. A lot of times we will run the Encap-clean through the Cimex with the bonnets on rather than a true bonnet method. This works well. I do not have a brush for the Cimex though.

I havent even used pads in a long time. ive been using the grout and soft shampoo brushes for everything cut piles i think the grout brushes work better and deeper but ive been doing trashed carpets i like it better when i spray down the chem through my porty and wand without the vac turned on then cimex scrub and then extract just by scrubbing with the cimex after spraying it down it looks clean the extraction is just for peace of mind for the customer dual process but yields higher $$$ because i seperate myself from the rest with this process but it does take longer 2 dry this way maybe i should also carry along a fan lol |

WOW!! 7.5 years of college. Golly gee! No volunteering of GPA? Did you graduate with a degree? Was this time all at community or junior colleges? Or perhaps one of those "state" or public "4 year" institutions? Surely not, u sound more like an Ivy League type, perhaps MIT or Stanford? 7.5 years of college and doing carpet cleaning? Fruitful investment, education a lifelong adventure that is always valuable. Would you be so kind as to give a definition of TACT? That is with a T, then an A, then a C, and lastly with a T. Appreciate the counsel of such a learned sage. |

True, it is just the condescending tone of Mr. Know-It-All that seems so demeaning. No disrespect was meant in my post. All education is good whereever it comes from. And I think pretty much all vocations are of value. If it is worth being done then it is worthy of respect. |
