OP machine pulls to right..

February 7 2007 at 9:22 AM
Steve

I did notice while using the OP machine that it will run very smoothly along the carpet. All of a sudden I will get a hard pull to the right. Then it will go away after a few seconds or so. I double checked to make sure the pad and carpet were wet enough. Didnt help. I tried a glide it improved things but I still got a hard pull to the right. Any thoughts on why this happenes??

Ther were a few times the pulling lasted longer than a few seconds...

I notice a pull usually in traffic areas. Probably because of wear and dipping of sub floor. Hallways are bad sometimes. Glider helps. Sometimes pulling the machine in a backwards motion makes a difference. Another thing that I discovered with some trial and error is to twist the handle. Twisting it left to go left and right to go right will help a little.
Good luck.

op pulls to right

February 7 2007, 11:33 AM

Joe is right on. Sometimes times the floor under the carpet may not be not level. I see this alot of times in apartments and upstairs in some homes we clean. To correct this problem,if the op is hard to move to the right, leave your right hand on the handle, take your left hand and push foward on the handle and as you are doing this put your right knee on the center of the pole, and also push the machine to the right. When you come back the other way, the machine should go normaly again. If pulls to the left, just reverse.

Re: Going straight

After almost losing my arm in a swing machine accident (well not really but the story is better then just crashing it into the wall and looking like a chump) I bought a Sprint. It goes nice and straight- just like my Cimex and my Rotovac (except after about 8-12 beers and a couple of shots).

the old ccs dance

February 7 2007, 6:05 PM

I learned this dance back in 1995 with the old 1/3 hp/15" ccs O.P. cast Iron machine, we had ten of these machines. Today all the O.P. machines our way advanced and getting better every year. By the way you can try puting your left or right leg on (dance pole} shaft, what ever feels better!!!!P.S. Don't forget to roll both pants legs up for better feel of the machine.

from what I'm told its normal... however i do like how the HOS/Vento has the MTB bar ends, makes "pulling" it back to the side a lot easier then using the flat grips IMHO

less stress

February 8 2007, 12:16 AM

When using the MTB bars on the Vento, it also takes all the stress from the back to the arms and shoulders, which means your back will last alot longer out there in the carpet cleaning world. The smoothness of the Vento is a big plus as Rick has mentioned alot. He has to great O.P's machines, the challenger and the Vento.
