| I'm bidding out a church right now... the sancuary has some VERY long stairs leading up to the stage... it's only 3 of them but they go the entire width of the stage (haven't mesured them yet)
how would you go about billing for stairs like this? i'm assuming based on sq/ft?... how much would you charge for each ft?
thanks

You might break down your normal price to clean a step by the linear foot then measure how wide the steps are.
Personally, I charge $3.00 for a step 3' wide ($1.00 per linear foot).

19 cents a square foot on large commercial churches. Don't gouge them. You will have to stand before Him one day and answer for overcharging (assuming you overcharge) |

Could you do it as a charitable donation of service/product? Have your church business adminstrator give you a receipt. Dave |

I don't know about the particulars of your state, etc. However kepp in mind in many states churches are exempt from property, sales, and unemployment(if levied as)taxes. Also many do not make contributions to their employees healthcare, retirement, or educational assistance.
If as a parent I don't pay on my childs healthcare, college tuition, make financial plans if I lose my job, nor pay taxes on my property or the things I buy I might be considered a "DEADBEAT". Why should they be viewed differently? Don't let these instituions guilt you out of fair compensation, their business is "praying" (pun) on peoples insecurities, and they get tax incentives many don't. Why not add an extra 8% just for taxes they don't pay?

Sorry forgot in my previous response, we recently bought a TM-Pro here at the church. Prior to the purchase we secured bids from local CCers, to help in the justification of procuring eqmt. In our locale the prices ranged from 6 cents to 11 cents, for 40K sq. feet project. Steps ranged from $1.50 to $3.00 some just said they would throw them in as they were going to have to go up to the balcony to clean carpets up there. Helped get us the TM. |

| measured up... now figuring out the bid. | February 14 2007, 5:35 PM |
Measured most of it out today (couldn't get to the kidies rooms because they where being used... but i can measure them tonight after orchestra practice...
if they go w/ the maitnace plan i'm suggesting it's about 63,000 sq/ft over the year in carpet and large area rugs
450 liner feet of stairs (done annualy)
and 6700 sq/ft of tile
sanctuary alone is over 7k sq/ft not including the stage or backstage area which add another 4k sq/ft... the real beauty of it is... none of it is under pews smile.gif the pews are done theater style with some coated cement under them...
thankfuly i should have enough time to save up for another machine before the BIG portion of the jobs come into play... i don't think doing that much area would be fun with a single 17" OP machine haha
now i'm trying to figure out a fair pricing... both on my end and on theirs...
I've added some cleaning frequency to a few areas which i feel are realy need and plan to explain why in the bid... or personaly chat with the guy in charge.
at the moment i'm thinkingabout .09 sq/ft on carpet and .50 on tile & Grout and liner foot of stairs
those prices sound fair on a job this size?
thanks
mark
