1st big bid... help

February 15 2007 at 10:40 AM
mark thomas

does anyone have a sample bid/proposal contract for me to look at by chance? I finished measuring out the church last night and i'm still trying to decide on the exact price... and also need some help in how to make a professional looking proposal.

for numbers...
if they go w/ the maintnce plan i'm suggesting it's about...
60,000 sq/ft of carpet
450 liner feet of stairs
and 6700 sq/ft of tile

outright its
19700 sq/ft of carpet
450 liner feet of stairs
2200 sq/ft of tile

sanctuary alone is over 7k sq/ft not including the stage or backstage area which add another 4k sq/ft... the real beauty of it is... none of it is under pews smile.gif the pews are done theater style with some coated cement under them...

I've been trying to decide on a fair price, the current cleaning they are getting is on the not so good side IMHO, the areas that are getting frequently cleaned have lots of wick-back and just don't look very clean, and then alot of the other areas look like they need cleaned more frequently.

for prices i'm thinking something along the lines of .09 sq/ft of carpet and .50 for stairs and tile

the price will include emergency cleaning, I just want to keep the carpets looking good, something thats not happening at the moment.

any imput?
thanks a lot guys

Mark,
Good luke with the bid. I am unable to advise on an estimate. I'm sure Rick and others that provide "large" account cleaning will be able to help.

I would advise that you be very careful with the emergency cleaning. What does emergenct mean in your view and what does it mean in their view. To me emergency would be a large spill in an area where a wedding will take place in a few hours. Spot removal could be addressed a few time a week.

A large church like you are bidding may have 5 to 10 meetings, meals, and activities every day. That could be a ton of free emergency cleanings. You may wish to allow 5 free emergency cleanings per week (or month) with a service fee for all after the free ones. That would protect you from a call every two hours.

I take care of over 30 churches.
Here are a few free tips.
Know who you answer to. Don't let every chruch menber be your boss.
Ask that all emergency cleanings come from one person. ( maybe the churech office staff)
Have access to the church calendar.
Ask to be on the church calendar e-mail list.

Good Luck!
Jamie

Very good specifics there, Jamie. We all know how words can have elastic meanings depending on who is using them at the moment. Although I've not yet put together a bid for a comm acct the issues you raise are excellent. Stil not sure how I received a B by my Professor in Contract Law. Lol. Hope someone is able to chime in and help Mark with his situation. I might add, that I'm going to start my campaign for comm accts and start having my Cimex that I purchased from Rick the end of last year make some real money. Currently do two law firms. In any event, I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee for a few really good templates for comm accts. Don't care to wait till I'm needing to submit a bid to then go fishing for one. If anyone has some or knows a source I'd appreciate the feedback. Again, I do not mind paying. You can email me at ken@heavensentfloorcare.com. Thanks!

Big Bid

Mark,

I agree. Be careful with the emergency repsonse cleanings. It means different things to different people. I don't know if this is the church that you belong to. I encap the church I belong too and I give them a discounted price. I Have several proposals I have sent out if you leave your email address, I'll be happy to send them to you.

Good Luck.

Ralph

Charity Deduction

February 17 2007, 7:50 AM

Mark,
If you do any free cleaning for your church you may be able to deduct your fee as a charitable deduction. Check with your tax man.
Also keep in mind you can not out give God.
Have an awsome day.
