| Hey Rick,
nothing major but where i can help out I'd like to. So, i just wanted to direct you to the link "how encap works" under the sub-heading scrubbing technique to see if theres anything wrong there. while i got your attention, also i'd like to ask you about the steamin demon. i think that the encap punch is very unique in that it is used as a hwe rinse and has the benefit of encapping whats left as well, when used with an extractor. i mean thats maximum cleaning to a superlative degree. But the steanmin demon is also awesome being that it hooks up to the water source and its other powerful features such as vacuum and pumping ability. but it can't be used with the punch cause theres no tank. and if i use the punch as pre spray, then hwe with demon afterwards, i lose the benefit of the punch.(encapping part) So, what will be the recomendation of the following two choices? : plain water with the demon, or portable with punch in tank. In other words will the demon's results compare with the portable & punch in tank? my goal this year is to get set up to do the two-stage deep clean then maintainance with scrubb. but i want the best method coming out the gate cause thats all i'm gonna be able to afford for a good while. sorry so lenthy! thanks

The Steamin Demon is the BEST flushing tool on the market due to its high volume of water flow (highest in the industry). If flushing is what you are looking to accomplish the SD is your baby. Other POWERFUL portables have more CLEANING ability than the SD. For example a 300 PSI portable has more power in the way of agitation, and agitation is important for CLEANING. On the other hand if you will pre-scrub in front of a SD machine, you will have plenty of agitation. So it comes down to a matter of preference. The SD with superior flow, or a portable with stronger cleaning power built in.
Regarding Encap-Punch, the SD will rinse away most of the encap properties of Punch. I say "most of the encap properties" because it's very difficult to rinse out EVERYTHING that gets introduced to the carpet as a pre-spray. What is happening with HWE is a dilution and suction of the pre-spray chemical. To illustrate, take a dish cloth, lay it on the kitchen counter, and squirt a drop of dish soap on it. Now dump a half cup of water (4 ounces) on the cloth and wring it out. What do you have? Foam! Yet 4 ounces of water completely DRENCHED the fiber. Now repeat the process, drench the cloth with another half cup of water and wring it out. Still foamy. This could be repeated again and again. In this case, you're applying far more liquid than what would normally be introduced to equivalent fiber content during HWE carpet care, yet you still aren't removing all of the chemical. This is where Encap-Punch shines! Any detergent that isn't rinsed from the fiber leaves an encapsulating residue that won't attract soil and can be removed through post-vacuuming. It's like 2 methods of cleaning in the same package.

Excellent analogy, Rick! But, we'd expect nothing less from DA MAN. |
