| I am experiencing a problem at work. It is related to the recent thread regarding pile-lifting, etc. We have a TM-Pro and my supervisor likes to apply a light mist of water to carpet prior to running the "Pro" over in it's "pile-lifter" or "power sweeper" configuration. His reason and complaint was the Pro created such a dust cloud when the carpet was "dry" that it was too messy and made him sneezy. Hence, the misting of H20. I admit that running the Pro dry reminded one of "Pigpen" character in the Peanuts comic strip. I feel however that by not pre vacuuming and just misting water in that fashion he is just creating a semi "muddy" mess. We are starting to have matting action occur in traffic lanes of cut pile surfaces, which I believe is evidence of the semi "muddy" mess drying and being walked on after he has been over it. He has also ran out of encap cleaner and hasn't reordered, over has gotten a couple of cases of H2O2 multipurpose cleaner which I fear he plans to use with the Pro. I don't mind H2O2 in a bonnet type application, where the pad is in action. However, with a CRB believe an encapsulant is needed. Also to worsen matters our vacuums are Windsor Versamatics typically very good however the orange light signaling the need for the brush strips needing replaced have been on for months now. It seems no brush agitation from the vacuuming is occuring another factor as to the "Pigpen effect". He's my supervisor and a member of the church wher I work. It's nice to have a tool like the TM Pro, sad to see it be ineffective in it's use. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Lightly misting the carpet with water or Releasit should work fine. I'm not sure about using H202 though.
I haven't used the TM Pro, so I can't advise you on that machine. I was told by the manufacturer that the TM Pro’s are being redesigned. So we're not able to order any of them yet until they've finished with the modifications. And at this point I'm not sure we'll be ordering any of these units.
Why not try to encourage your supervisor to set up a serious encap cleaning system. From what you're saying it sounds like he likes to try a little of this and a little of that. It seems like it would make it a whole lot easier for everyone involved if he'd just lock into a system that works well. I guess everybody is different though.
