1.5 AC twin capacitor vs. 1.5 DC

What are the pro and cons between the two motors? Pricing is obvious, would assume motor life hours? Anybody had experience with the Koblenz 1500 rpm burnisher products they would like to share? Thanks!

Larger motors last longer and generate less heat under a comparable load.
So if you have the option to purchase a machine with a larger motor - do it.

We've used the 1500 rpm Koblenz buffers in our business. They're not bad.
For a modern electric buffer, they get the job done pretty well.

twin capacitor AC vs. DC rectified

March 4 2007, 9:26 AM

Thanks Rick! Which model Koblenz did you use? The twin capacitor AC 1.5 hp or the DC rectified 1.5 hp? Prices I've found lately put the DC a bit more expensive than the AC. Also it seems many other manufacturers only offer DC units. Was wondering why? What the +/-'s of the two motors are, etc. Pardon my ignorance. Thanks! Wish I was more of an electrical engineer.

I'm pretty sure they were the AC models.
But I don't remember for certain.

They're decent buffers.
