Matting

Previous thread mentioned matting. I have always been told, sold, thought that adequate matting meant 5-7 steps at the entrances to clean off the feet. What do you all think?

Dave that is exactly right. Now in reality, that means a mat 15' to 20' long or one inside the entrance and one outside the entrance is usealy the best choice.

Wools of New Zealand or it may have been WRONZ (Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand) conducted testing and found that something like 97% of loose soiling was lost in the first 3meters (10') when going from hard to soft flooring.

Now I only got that second hand but the Shortwun got this info first hand along with my Dad so he may have it more accurate but that should be close. Can you confirm Shorty?

Maybe you guys stride too much

Thanks for the help, The guys at Kmart, Wally Mart, Target etc. around here really have it taken care of pretty well. Too bad people often time get "thrifty" when it comes to matting. Usually comes back to haunt them later.
