i did a HWE on a home i have previously encapp'ed (looked very good both times upon completion) home is 12 years old medium blue saxony with 3 people living in the home (1 teenager and 1 dog) and 2 grandchildren on occation.

i always prevac and use my GLS on this home, it is well kept for the most part and has Laminate flooring ajoining the carpeted areas.

i presprayed with Ultra Pac and rinsed with One Step. it was shocking to see how clean the carpet came. prior to extracting it didn't look all that bad, but once i started i couldn't believe it.

this leads me to believe that encapping medium to heavy saxsonys or shags just spreads the soils around evenly and gives it a level appearence. good crystalizers do leave behind some stuff to keep the soils at bay, but in no way does this process compair to HWE in this setting.

I have a few more places i've encapped that will get HWE this time around to see if this was an isolated incident!!!

Rick has said may times on this forum that Cimex/encap should primarily be used in a commercial setting. I encap commercial wherever I can; the appearance level is quite good MOST times.

I've used Punch as a prespray and rinse agent in my Hydramaster truckmount. While I like the concept and wish it would work, it (IMO) doesn't seem to get nearly the same results as my 'regular' HWE combo. These opinions are based on no agitation, rinsing with a glided wand. That's about as 'no agitation' as you can get.

I'm sure the chemistry will improve in the future, and look forward to that time. For the present- for me- HWE with traditional chemistry is king in resi work, while encap performs quite well in many commercial situations.
